Vet here. Every American has a right to know where their tax dollars are going. Veteran or not if someone is working while receiving payments based on the claim that they are unable to work, that’s fraud. Disability fraud is disability fraud. Honor is a cornerstone of service.

@nudawaya How many wars did you win? Not a great return on investment tbh

I raised my hand and here’s the problem. I personally know three guys collecting 100% disability that are working government jobs making serious cash. They should not be disabled.

Why is this man communicating like a woman from the ghetto??? Since when did veterans advocate restricting speech? Since when was the VA exempt from criticism?

Disability checks are 100% just a welfare scam for veterans. Everyone knows.

This guy trying to act like fraud doesn't run rampant. In the past 15 years we've seen people start working on the hundo club long before they drop their paperwork. There's YouTube and Tiktoks devoted to teaching Soldiers how to game the system. There's Facebook groups that have people who will coach you, for a fee of course, and they're never short of customers. There's more Reddits than I can count with people giving and receiving advice for their next steps to get their rating upped. I know a Vet Tech that tangled with an angry cat at her first and only duty station and claimed nightmares/PTSD and gets a check every month because of it. Another example a female who got married to the first guy that looked at her at her first duty station. 2 years in and 2 babies. During her second pregnancy she finds out she's got AIDS. Turns out her husband had been enjoying the nightlife in Lawton a little too much. Both were separated and both collect 100%. Why tf are they allowed to collect for that? Acting like people should just keep their mouths shut, especially if they're a civilian, is bullshit. Soldiers need to start holding Soldiers accountable. Seems too many have forgotten that one of the principle values is HONOR.

Let's say the ugly part first. There is a lot of disability fraud. As a vet I HATE this, as it makes the legit claimants (and, I agree, it is more akin to worker's comp) look bad. And the fraud does impact the taxpayers.

For years, I’ve worked side by side with multiple veterans who were some random percentage “disabled” Hard work, long hours, nights. And you know what? I didn’t care. These people served. I’d much rather my tax dollars go to those people than almost anywhere else.

@MrBalassi I am a veteran. I am concerns that there is substantial fraud in disability claims. Either state that there is zero fraud or stop telling non-veterans STFU about it. One doesn’t have to be a veteran to point out facts.

It’s being taken advantage of 💯 % don’t act like it’s not. I have he utmost respect for service members but being in the military doesn’t automatically make you a good person.

maybe I can offer some insight. - The aging rate for a servicemember who has been deployed is 2:1 due to oxidative stress That means, by 30, most veterans bodies act 40+. - the average veteran lifespan is 10-15 years shorter than general population That means that we have 10-15 fewer years to provide for our families, and have to play catch up because we put everything on hold for our service time. For example, by the time my high school peers were starting their Masters & doctoral programs, or their second business, I was starting an Associates, with no assets and minimal savings. The average draw from VA disability is 30%. There are 18 million living veterans. The average monetary compensation per veteran is $24,671/year. In case you're wondering, that's ~29% of the median household income, fully 1% below the rate of disability. In short, even on VA disability, we're still settling for less than we should be getting. Not much less, on average, but less. Stop trying to penny pinch vets. Start trying to curb frivolous spending, and hold your Representative responsible for their pet projects and donor-interests.

I got a DD-214. After finding out the people who were in during GWOT can get $3k a month because of hearing loss or a tweaked nerve or some such bullshit while never actually being a grunt/pog then I'm all in for fixing this. Don't VetBro me with your fake as tatts & bravado REMF

It does look like VA Disability Benefits are being abused. Thank you for your service.

@eethatcher Multiple vet family member here. It took 60 yrs for my dad to get it. There are many such vets. There are also many able-bodied vets who get 100% and go on to 6 figure incomes in the civilian world. Yes, it should be questioned for the tax payers & deserving vets who were denied

Telling Americans that they don't get a say in where their tax dollars go and they just need to shut their mouths is the most unamerican thing ever. Is this guy really a vet? Lil bro, you ain't winning anyone over to your side with that attitude.

I’m a vet and it’s legit to question some of the people on disability if they’ve never deployed. Yeah training accidents happen and that’s fine but there seems like there’s significant fraud going on

Probably because he’s an American. You don’t get special protections from civilians asking questions because you served.

Veteran here: I know a lot of people who take advantage of this system. Get 100% for life while being clearly not disabled. Coaching others on what to say to get 100%. It’s absolutely a problem.

As a veteran son and grandson of veterans I say there are too many unqualified disabled veterans on disability. I personally know many of them I think it makes them sad in life that they were talked in to taking something from the people

Because far too many desk jockeys are leaving and getting on disability for stupid shit like 'depression' or some other dumb reason. Combat veterans should ABSOLUTELY be set for fucking life once they are out, but some fat chick who typed up reports? Really?

As a 100% permanent and totally disabled Iraq combat veteran, I approve this message.

Take a look at what compensation looks like in the civilian world. This wouldn't be an issue if people weren't getting monthly compensation for disabilities that if legitimate would preclude their performing certain roles. I have seen far too many with over 80% disability working jobs that require lifting, climbing ladders, climbing stairs and being paid quite well to do it.

I raised my hand. I know of 4 vets who are "100% disabled" and are not impacted one bit. They actually brag that their disability pay is covering their mortgage and bills and their income is gravy. The secret is to find the right lawyer to get you through the process. Boom, you're set for life.

No, anyone has the right to comment on where tax dollars are being spent. That said, they should educate themselves before public commentary. Clearly Matt Walsh didn't do that or ignored what he found so that he had a talking point.

VA claims need to be scrutinized. There are ridiculous VA claims made out there as well as many people who have serious issues but never claim them. The incentives are perverse to lie and therefore the claims need to be adjudicated carefully.

Work mans comp generally doesnt continue making payments for the rest of ones life. Additionally the VA disability scam is real, as others have pointed out there a yt videos and tiktoks explaining how to game the system.

This idiot lost me in the stupid “blank check” statement that every vet bro repeats

I am military retired and I know first hand there are tons of veterans faking injuries to get $ from the VA.

Because as taxpayers we pay for it. A lot of veterans never even saw a fucking combat. I went in the Recruiters Office multiple times am I a fucking hero? I'm not trying to shit on all veterans but Walsh has a point

He can fuck himself Yellow foot prints were available to him too We are less that 1 % of the population We shpuld never pay taxes And all infantry and wR fighters maxed out These colors don't run Matt Your welcome

If he knew half the amount of pain he couldn't handle it. I dont take painkillers. Nerve blockers yes. Just enough to function. The amount of surgeries I've already had caused me to be medically retired at 17 years. It scares me when im not in pain. Its not normal for me

This is such a shitty take on tattoo hands. It's not compensation, it's *above compensation* and we all know that the disability system in the VA is just gibs for vets. So yeah, call it "Gibs for Vets" but we need to stop pretending it's disability.

I agree the verbiage needs to change.

I have a DD 214 and you don’t get to tell anybody what they can talk about just because you have one. I don’t know; maybe all that stupid ink polluted your mind. I wonder how much of that the taxpayer had to pay for. Regardless. Whatever point you have or may not have is wrapped around all the fuckery of you thinking you have a right to shut people up just because they didn’t serve and you don’t like what they said. Not sure why you wore the uniform but it sure as hell wasn’t for freedom.
