Yes, we need to pick our battles. It’s with fake meat not grain fed beef.

I'm all for MAHA but I agree 100%, no reduction in beef, there is no reason for it. Practically all cattle for beef are raised on small farms across the country grazing in fields eating the majority of their food as grass. When they are finished with grains its is a very short time relative to the cows lifespan. No reason to reduce any ruminant production.

My husband and I are cattle producers and you are not wrong. Most of this country would suffer massive losses of livestock gains through starvation every winter without grain supplementation. It simply isn’t feasible.

If Joel Salatin is in MAHA via the USDA. I think we will be alright.

I'm more concerned with animals being injected with hormones and COVID vaccines than I am about arguing over grass vs grain fed ...the general consensus (wrongly or rightly) is that grain fed is Big Ag and Big Ag is profit first, human health last I believe the MAHA push is human health focused by whatever means... ...and the regenerative farming angle is to heal our depleted soil which feeds the entire cycle Obvi we can't reduce output to the point where meat is now 10x the price and even less affordable - that would be akin to climate change policy with respect to killing off fossil fuels

Well said, I appreciate you speaking up Dr. Baker.

Similar arguments were made when the idea of "organic" (everything used to be organic) veggies started gathering steam. Industrial Ag said organic food will cause massive famines, which, had it happened overnight, it could have, maybe. The #MAHA movement and regenerative agriculture will not happen overnight. The idea of regenerative agriculture has been around for many decades now. It will take educating the public on the difference between CAFO production and regenerative production. Farms will migrate away from CAFO and new farms with multiple products (not monoculture) will emerge. The market shift will be slow, and the food system will be able to absorb the change. Hope this helps. #GodBless 🙏🙏🙏

The assumption and teaching that grass fed is better is based on unproven assumptions. I could easily make the opposite arrangement with equal validity: Eating grain fed cows means the cows are going to have more active immune systems and increased inflammation, which in turn will increase the anti-inflammatory system response in the meat. This will give more white blood cells and higher anti-inflammatory agents inside the meat which when eaten would have more nutrition, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory agents be bio available. See. Easy to make up some bullshit when no one actually knows anything.

100%. Well said Doc. We’ve got a hungry world to feed and beef is likely the best protein superfood, along with eggs. These (beef and eggs) are the king and queen of optimal nutrition x health. The myopic love affair with “regenerative” is a danger for our food/beef supply. Even advocates of “regenerative” cannot agree on what actually defines it!! Yet, everyone seems to be “an expert”. We need all beef systems that best fit the environment, the health and welfare of cattle and the availability of feedstuffs to maximize upcycling of nutrients. Parsimony must be our guiding principle. Thank you for speaking out so rationally. Your voice and wisdom are powerful and needed. Eat beef, be happy!😃

I agree on the grass fed vs grain fed. I find grass fed a bit tougher and not as fatty. I prefer the flavor of the beef that are grain fed. Having raised cattle ourselves, you don’t get all the fat with grass fed as you do grain fed. Fat is more essential than more protein.
