Anyone notice Walsh booking Makhanya 1 minute into the second half for absolutely nothing to try and stifle his game but it didn’t work. Great work John 👏🏻

Agree with absolutely all of this but Makhanya is key, he moves wide and covers the Penrice role and we risk going man for man with Manny on Hogh, it worked really well though.

It was glorious to watch but wasn’t without risk Celtic had a few chances to break and score but they were so fucking shite that we contained them I saw McGregors face full of fear in the tunnel and knew how this was going to play out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Last night we tried to invert James Penrice in the 1st Half, similar with Dragojevic v Jagiellonia, but that requires a lot of work. 1. Individual Work on Training Pitch (5-10mins) > Fullbacks are used to having pitch infront of them > Work on Back-Foot Receiving > Work on Playing Passes through Lines > Work on Driving Inside the Pitch > Underlapping from an Inside 8 Position & Crossing 3. 121 Analysis with the Analysts (15-20mins) > Show Player Visuals from Previous Game > Show Player Examples of Good Inverting (Ange Teams) It is very clear that we have just told James Penrice to play as an "Inverted Fullback" & not done any training ground preparation or in-depth 121 Analysis of it to help him. Absolutely none of that sits with James Penrice, I watched the work Ange Postecoglou did at Celtic with Harry Kewell on 121 work with Greg Taylor, Alastair Johnston & the other fullbacks.

Rangers: Man for Man Pressing Rangers were outplayed, outcoached & as a result, out of Europe & McInnes "Man for Man" press seems to be a huge mitigating factor for the players. Look back at Hearts v Motherwell last season, where Motherwell took a 3-0 lead & it was all down to "man for man" pressure with a smart coach with a style exploiting it. (Hearts recovered a draw) Same as last night, Jabonlec far superior in their "Style" and "Rotations" which all comes from good coaching and identifying weaknesses in your opponent. My main issues with Man for Man Pressing: > Individuals Focus on Themselves > CB Drives Out Beyond CF > Who Corrects the "Next" Player > Do CM's Drop or Jump onto that > How High Do CB's Go I felt sorry for Dan Neil, I do not think yesterday merited a HT sub, I felt it was structural & he wasn't alone, it was 7-8 players uncertain. If 7-8 players are waving arms about due to uncertainty and frustration then this isn't being addressed in training and/or in analysis meetings to ensure clarity In defence of McInnes, switching to 3-5-2 and adding a 3rd CM did address a lot of these gaps from first half but it still didn't have any impact on Rangers creating chances.

Motherwell: Building Out & Attacking 65mins & 3-0 up at Tynecastle is up there with one of the Best "Footballing" performances I have seen from a Motherwell side. "Playing out from the Back" is an attractive way to play if it has brilliant technical detail from an intelligent coach, which clearly, Jens Berthel Askou is. His Understanding of Hearts/McInnes "Press" is Perfect: - Inviting Hearts to Jump "Man for Man"(McInnes Press) - Targeted CM Overloads & Inviting Hearts CB's - Elijah Just & Tawanda Maswanhise Movement & Rotations were excellent to create space between Findlay & Milne - Willingness to Mix it up when they could see a 3v3/4v4 in Hearts Half 1st watch of Elijah Just & a very impressive performance: - Brilliant Scanner - Great Understanding of Space/Distance between Findlay and Devlin & how to attract each - Quality on the Ball thereafter to Put it "All Together" - 2 Assists, 3 Chances Created & MOTM Arguably as well, at 3-1, Motherwell stopped doing what they had been doing & started to go "Direct" and for me, that's what caused the comeback. Very impressed by them on this viewing 👏

Given everything that’s going on right now on and off the pitch, this is exactly the kind of game that can reset the tone heading into the business end of the season. Now is the time to change that. No divisions. No infighting. Just back the team as one and give them everything. All together. 🍀

Rangers: Defending, Dan Neil & Transitions I felt it was probably the most polished I have seen Rangers under McInnes' in every aspect especially against a very tidy Motherwell. The Opening 25/30mins Motherwell had 73% Possession with lots of good rotations and breaking through lines quite well but after that: > Rangers High-Press 4-2-4 (4-1-1-4) Created Chances > Dropping into 4-2-3-1/4-4-2 Mid-Block to Block Centre > Low-Block to Invite Counter Attacking Chances Special mention to Dan Neil who was an absolute leader, organising the team & getting lots right with the ball in transition. I'm disappointed in myself… For me, 75% of the game for me is my mind. My mind's got to be where it needs to be and in the last 2 minutes of the game, it wasn't. I gave up 2 offensive rebounds, turned the ball over. Yeah. I'll be better." “We've just got to stay locked in on the game-plan, especially myself man. This Clip, I feel, shows what we have been missing at times from last seasons 3: - Cleverness of the Touch to Gassama after Scanning for a Counter Option - Takes off to Catch Him - Constantly Scanning for Team-Mates and Celtic Defenders - 1-2-3 Adjusting Movements in the Box for the Cross If we can get more Winger 1v1 & Crossing Positions, Miovskis' movement in the box could see him match his Aberdeen numbers 🙏
