As part of our Eid meat distribution in Gaza City, Translating Falasteen x The Sameer Project made sure to visit and honor the sanitation crews who continue serving their people under impossible circumstances. Alongside the distribution of 200 kilograms of meat, we wanted to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and humanity of those who work tirelessly to keep their neighborhoods clean and livable. It’s always spin over substance! 1. The Head of the CSIRO is clueless. He clearly only answers questions that suit his narrative and takes everything else on notice. Whatever happened to accountability in answering questions. 2. Why bother turning up to estimates if you aren’t going to bring your subject matter experts - especially in regard to their GenCost report which is used by useful idiots like Chris Bowen to justify their lies. 3. The CSIRO is misleading the Australian public by overstating the capacity of Windfarms. They have a capacity of 30% not 50%. This understates their costs by 40%. 4. Assuming Nuclear and Coal have an average capacity of 60% is misleading. If allowed to run 24 hours a day without being turned down for solar in the middle of the day their capacity can be 90%. 5. By overstating wind and understating coal/nuclear capacity the way they have, coal/nuclear is costed at being 20% more efficient than wind. I.e. 60% over 50% instead of 300% more efficient. I.e. 90% over 30%. 6. The net result of this is that efficiency of baseload power is understated by 15 times in relation to Wind power. 7. Storage costs are completely ignored in costings, especially in regard to locating and building pumped hydro. The CSIRO have no idea where the pumped hydro is going to go. The Net Zero fantasy is going to destroy this country. #auspol

The Oakey meat works is 100% owned by NH Foods of Japan. Between mid-March and mid-June 2022, NH Foods released 175 megalitres (175,000,000 litres) of heavily contaminated abattoir runoff into Oakey Creek, which flows into the Condamine Balonne river system, part of the Murray Darling Basin. From there, the contamination makes its way down the Darling and Murray Rivers into the Lower Lakes in South Australia. The contamination was horrific: 460,000 MPN/100ml (milliliters) for E.coli, 151 mg/litre of ammonia nitrate, and phosphorus at 29 mg/litre. The Queensland Government investigated and agreed with the facts but only fined the meat works $13,000 when they could have been fined $1.3 million per day. This might have something to do with the close links between the meat works and the union movement. I pointed out that charging a foreign meat works $13,000 to dispose of such a large amount of heavily polluted water under cover of heavy rain is a scandal. Why would Oakey meat works or any other company bother to dispose of waste properly when they can just dump it into the Murray Darling system and pay a token fine for doing so? I first asked the Inspector-General of Water Compliance if he would investigate, and he refused. This is despite the Act, which established his agency, specifically outlines his duties to include intervening when a State Government fails to do their job, which Queensland has in this case. After that hand-washing, I asked the Murray Darling Basin Authority if they were concerned about such a large source of toxic pollution, which may have led to the famous blue-green algae outbreak and fish kill near Menindee. The answer was more deflection, with the matter ending at the Queensland Government's door. If this was a farmer, they would be all over it, and indeed are all over farm runoff. But abattoir runoff? Apparently not. I am sick of the rules not applying equally. I hope raising this matter will at least focus the attention of relevant authorities on the Oakey meat works to ensure this never happens again. On an average, a household in urban India generates approx. 10 gms. of MLP waste every single day. These are typically the covers of various food products ranging from tetra-pack cartons, masala powder covers, milk powder, potato chips - various other FMCG consumables. MLP (Multi - layered packaging material) are NON recyclable plastic waste. Since it cannot be recycled, this waste has NO purchase value at the scrap shops. Even rag pickers ignore it. Every other waste like thick-thin plastic, paper, metal, electric , electronic etc. have resale value ... But not this bloke. Thus the MLP inevitably ends up on landfills, contaminating the soil and eventually, during flows into a water body on its journey to the ocean. There it hurts the marine life , breaks into micro plastics under the UV light rays from the Sun. In a classical RSVP, it gets into the clouds alongwith evaporated water and returns back to earth in rain water. Through water, all of us and the animals and birds, now have micro plastics in our bodies. Many diseases like cancer, etc have been attributed to this non-organic invader inside our bodies. Now, we cannot wish away the MLPs. They do a fantastic job in keeping the potato chips fresh and crispy for 6 months. A boon to the supply-chain of FMCG products. They are available as a raw material to the food processing. FMCG industries in abundance. Also, an environment friendly commercially viable alternate material in large quantity is not seen in the distant horizon. So, along with 2 other professionals we launched our start-up to address this problem. Ui- Unified Intelligence Pvt Ltd is the execution wing of our venture. Vaspar foundation is our not-for-profit foundation that lodges the innovation center. Here we are always working on developing multiple new products and solutions aimed at creating large scale employment. At the factory MLP waste covers brought in from dry waste collection centres are shredded, washed and then loaded on a sheet making unit that presses out 8'x4' sized sheets of a variety of thickness. As the sheets cool down, we get a light weight thermoset sheet that are extremely strong and have fantastic mechanical and thermal properties. The MLP waste are from food grade plastic and thus have almost zero VOC. Also, the sheets are wonderful heat insulators. We sandwich 3 sheets of these between honeycomb structures made of the same material to create structurally integrated construction grade panels. These 100 mm thick panels are then covered on all sides with 8mm cement boards to form a skin. These are ready to paint surface, are standard construction materials with fire resistance rating of 2 hours. These panels become the walls and roof of our building. The floor is a 6" concrete layer. We build homes, terrace living space, dormitories , class rooms, auditoriums, compound walls, public toilets etc. with these panels. At the rate of 10 grams of MLP packets that we throw out as waste from our homes per day, in a single year each home generates 3,650 grams (10 grams x 365 days) So if an apartment has 10 dwelling units, in a year the residents discharge 36.50 Kgs of MLP waste into the environment Last week we installed this tiny security cabin in our Apartments in Bangalore. There are 10 flats here . This 5'x5'x8' cabin was constructed with our panels in under 6 hours. The weight of the MLP waste consumed in the panels for the cabin is 500kgs. THAT is around 14 years of #MLP waste discharged together by all the VIRGO residents - is now stored in the walls of the cabin as our panels. The cabin has a life of 50 years. Comm. says the State Government will continue to pay special attention to waste conversion The quest to make good use of the high solid waste generated in Lagos State got another boost on Tuesday as the state expressed readiness to partner with some Sweden organizations on how to turn both solid waste and liquid waste to energy across the metropolis. Speaking during the meeting at Alausa, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab said the state will continue to pay special attention to waste management adding that waste is not a waste but remain one of the best resource every where. He said Waste to energy is a project that the State Government is willing to embark on in order to move the narrative forward in a progressive and productive way. "Our resolve from the beginning of this tenure is that whatever we have to engage in to manage and deploy our solid and liquid waste as a resource is a priority for this government as it will save Lagos but other neighbouring state" he said. The Commissioner stated that the Ministry which is a public facing ministry has resolved to embrace any project that will cut the carbon foot print in the state. He said the state being a coastal state is faces alot of challenges, one of which is the Atlantic Ocean rising at the peak of the rainy season adding that the state is also at the end of numerous tributaries where water is discharged into the lagoon all of which could lead to flooding in the state. He said lagos generates between 13,000 to 14,000 tonnes of waste per day and the state is open to suggestions about possible productive ways to turn it into a Resources and move the state forward. Wahab said lagos as a State is working to decongest the roads and make Lagos a 21st century mega city saying that the cause and effect on the environment is that these moves help to reduce the emissions on the long run. According to him, As a result of current energy crisis in Nigeria, this has caused the spike in the cost of PMS and its multiple effects on the economy. So if the Lagos State Government can go ahead with this project. it will solve half of the problem in the PMS high price in Lagos. "This project is something we have to pursue deliberately and diligently. This is because while the government on its own part is trying to push out CNG at lower cost, conversion of waste to energy will also be an option especially for public transport in Lagos" Wahab said Lagos account for over 50% of the vehicular traffic in the country with the smallest land mass as well as 22million people which is 10% of the country’s population being inhabited in with less than 3,600 square kilometers of land, stressing that the project is not an option but a necessity. He recalled that earlier in the year, the state government had been in consultation with two Dutch companies one which will turn waste to energy and the other which will deal with electronic waste, adding that the state can indeed change the notion that waste is not a waste but a resource. Means that the meat packer owns the entire supply chain for the product. So he owns where they grow the hogs, where they butcher the hogs, where they sell the hogs, all the way up to the retailer. And the largest pork producer in the United States of America is Chinese owned, Smith Field Farms. Which should be alarming to consumers as well. It should be alarming, yes. We're not going to reverse that hog industry because it has become so vertically integrated and concentrated and controlled. But what we can do is prevent that from happening to the cattle industry.”

This man is setting an example to the Democratic establishment with the very definition of a bold ambitious vision which is completely absent from the current Democratic leadership proposition. A leadership that did everything they could to stop him being elected, which tells a story of a party out of touch with an electorate hungry for ‘real change’ not just more crumbs from the rich man’s table. Before you jump in, I’m well aware that New York is not America, but tell me this, who in America believes that a president should govern for just the top 10%? Who in America believes the bottom 50% should fight over 2.5% of the nation’s wealth? Who believes that the wealthy elite should be given trillions in tax cuts while at the same time evading an estimated $1 trillion in tax EVERY YEAR? If the rich paid just the tax they owed, homelessness and food insecurity in America could be eradicated, and there’d still be change to restore the Obamacare subsidies whose absence has left so many Americans without healthcare. This is not about affordability, it’s about right wing evangelical political dogma. It’s a political choice. Politics is broken because it’s no longer about people first representation, it’s about special interests and corporate welfare. You do not need state handouts if you are in work, that’s what a wage is for. Wages should not be a partnership and joint venture with the state, that’s called CORPORATE WELFARE. Exposed: Toronto police parking officers costing taxpayers millions by clocking out early Do you remember the 1981 movie, Time Bandits? This Terry Gilliam-directed flick was a time travel fantasy. But in the here and now, there are real-life time bandits amongst us. And get this: these time bandits happen to be members of law enforcement! That’s what we observed (and video recorded) when we paid a visit to the Toronto Police Service Central Parking Enforcement Unit headquarters in north Toronto. By way of background, parking enforcement is quite the revenue generator for the city. Almost 400 parking enforcement officers (a.k.a., “meter maids”) write some 2.8 million tickets per year. That works out to more than $80 million per year going into the city’s coffers. Each officer is mandated to work a 10-hour shift. They get paid about $40 per hour. Or at least they are supposed to work 10 hours. But we discovered that such is not the case. Jay Bannister, a former Toronto cop who now runs Mad Lab Press, was tipped off by an insider that for several years now, parking enforcement officers are routinely NOT putting in a full shift’s work. And yes, we have evidence. Bannister went to the Central Parking Enforcement Unit just after 5 a.m. to observe officers arriving for duty in their civilian cars for the morning shift. At 6 a.m., the officers, now in their uniforms, left HQ in their marked cars. They are meant to be writing parking tickets until 4 p.m. Of note: each officer has a quota of 60 tickets per day, which is a goal that can easily be achieved in about two hours. In any event, these officers should be back at headquarters no sooner than 3:45. That way they can change out of their uniforms and leave at 4 p.m. But this is NOT the case. Instead, they routinely return to HQ by around 2 p.m. Indeed, the day we observed their comings and goings, some “early birds” had returned by 1:30 p.m. – yet keep in mind they are being paid until 4 p.m.! Translation: every officer is paid for a 10-hour shift even though they are barely working an eight-hour shift. This is called time theft. And it is costing the taxpayer almost $6 million per year thanks to all these officers going home hours early as opposed to working a full shift. It should be noted that the head honcho at parking enforcement, Michael Harrison, makes almost $187,000 per year plus benefits. And get this: last year, Harrison received a whopping 41% raise! But why? For turning a blind eye to time theft? Surely he knows what is going on. Last Monday afternoon, we paid a visit to the Central Parking Enforcement Unit. Sure enough, beginning as early as 1:30 p.m., officers began returning to headquarters. We scrummed the returnees. Our questions included: - Why are you off-shift – you’re supposed to be working until 4 p.m.? - We calculate that this time theft is costing the taxpayer almost $6 million per year. What do you have to say to the taxpayer about this? - As a member of law enforcement, shouldn’t you be setting a good example as opposed to defrauding the taxpayer?
