Progress always comes down to a small number of people working heads down on a decades-long mission and seriously holding the line on what it means to join the team and contribute. It's a constant fight against mediocrity, and unless you have a berserker at the helm and an airtight chain of accountability, you will accomplish nothing.

If you don't measure and enforce a standard, performance will inevitably decay. It's the gravity of mediocrity. Most people doing most things operate as effort minimizers. When no real bar is set, performance tends to zero.

You mean haters don’t like high achieving individuals.

“…only the man who is below the average in economic ability desires equality; those who are conscious of superior ability desire freedom; and in the end superior ability has its way.” -The Durants, the lessons of history

@ericjackson And vice versa

Often true. High standards expose complacency, and that discomfort gets mislabeled as dislike

This message is SO important. Mediocre people can bring down the whole organization.

When you aim higher or achieve more, some will resent or undermine you.

Psychology is completely different. Most: prefer comfort, want to be soothed and reassured. The few: realise exactly what you need to remove to be great That’s why most people benefit from talk therapy and for high peformers makes you less effective

Why socialists hate anyone productive and succesful

@raiders

Let’s break out Mediocracy

Well said.

True wisdom there

Why leaving merit based to DEI was brutal for subject matter experts serving a specific industry. 🤷♂️

Go tell these new kids this and the coach.

#inspired @Miss_U_LISD @BannonT

Believe it or not, this is not what REAL Life team dynamics R like, except for those with blind belief in the 'Cult of Unity.' Every team has at least 3 segments: a) Believers; b) 50/50s; and, c) Non-believers. Successful teams find a way which finds effective space for all 3.

Love him

Excellence is a mirror, not everyone likes what it reflects.

basically parity is for people who don’t understand the concept of domination

Very true

True for capitalism as well

@BamaGirlnSC I am persistently baffled by most people’s obsession with mediocrity.

Amen!
