This week, I overhauled concurrent heap defragmentation (akin to garbage collection) in my voxel game, achieving microsecond-level pause times and O(1) scalability across all platforms. Since existing research didn't fit my needs, I built my own defragmentation algorithm from first principles. The new system is a game-changer for the Gamecube and Dreamcast, where memory can easily become a bottleneck. These improvements eliminate stutters, even with millions of allocated objects like chunks and entities. In the first clip, the PC version runs 100,000 objects (render distance: 32) with no issues. The second clip in the reply ramps up to half a million objects (render distance: 64) and still holds steady — pause times stayed rock solid.

Now that I have experienced the main story, I can say with confidence, this is the best videogame I've ever played in my life. I am thrilled to follow up with the extra content and DLC in the upcoming days. I hope that when you read this and did not play this masterpiece. Pick it up and experience it for yourself. This is the latest Google research on XR Interaction: World Mouse. Instead of using hand rays or gestures to point at things in the physical space, you move a cursor with a mouse and the system figures out where that cursor should sit in the 3D world. It works in two main ways: - On an object, the cursor follows the surface, so you can move precisely across walls, screens, furniture, or virtual objects. - Between objects, the system creates a smooth bridge through space, so the cursor can travel from one surface to another. ✨ I can now generate 3d assets for my drone sim at directly from Cursor (sponsor of #vibejam) I need buildings that you'd see in a war torn city, like warehouses in ruins, broken down abandoned houses, bombed out bridges etc. Nano Banana Pro or 2 can generate them really well and then you can put them in an image-to-3d model and you get a GLB or FBX That one you can then import into your Three.js game, the models might be big though, in my case like 16MB, so I ask it to compress it and make it more low poly so it loads fast ThreeJS then loads the individual GLBs on page load and puts them in my drone sim somewhere randomly, I think I should remove some of the grass and match the sandy color of the ruins though to make it fit in more

Mew : In the past, I think I paid a lot of attention to the people around me. I feel that this really comes with time and experience. As I’ve gotten older, it like the outside noise has quieted down. I’ve started listening to myself more, and also to the people who are truly important to me. So right now, I feel like I’ve reached a point where I’ve found my balance. There was a time when I felt burned out too, from working very hard and from moments of panic caused by comments on social media, including antis. All of that made me feel quite pressured about standing here. Right now, I don’t really feel pressured anymore. I just want to do things my way. If you want to keep following me, that's fine. If not, you can follow someone else.

A wee appreciation post for all your love and kindness you’ve all shown me the past week. What is happiness to you? I can tell you what’s happiness to me. It’s Scotland’s lochs and frosty wee towns, endless coffees in the afternoon and whisky nights by the rivers. The sound of Scottish bagpipes just outside my window. I am 3rd generation Irish immigrant and proud to be a scouser from Liverpool! I came from poverty and I am proud because that made me the man I am today!! I chose to change my life and break the chain of poverty in my family and I did it because I never gave up and I believed everyday even when I had no money I would become wealthy! I worked 18 hours a day 7 days a week for all my adult life so my children would never have to experience what I did and I made it! If I can make it so can you no matter the colour of your skin or where you are from you can do it if you don’t give up!

I used Cursor to vibe code a simple fishing game prototype on the Unity Engine. Here's my learnings: - I did not use any Unity MCP for this. The game was built entirely by Cursor models (Sonnet 4.6 for execution and Opus 4.6 for planning) - The model was able to set up the game, getting the basic game mechanics working fairly quickly - I had to use the Unity Game Editor UI to attach components to the in-game objects manually, but it was quite easy to follow the instructions given by the Cursor model - Unity Editor is huge and slow! Compared to Godot, I find the UI really clunky I feel tired looking at it - Unity Assets Marketplace is amazing, there are so many amazing art assets there (like the ones I am using for this game). This is probably the biggest strength of Unity. - I had some issues with restoring checkpoints, probably because of how Unity Game Editor UI being really clunky and I had to manually adjust things in the Editor, which the model doesnt have knowledge of Overall, the results turn out pretty decent, but it was a rather frustrating experience, especially when I had to debug issues or rollback changes. I'll explore more vibe coding on Unity but for now, I think I prefer Godot as a game engine. I just wish there is a Godot Asset Marketplace!

I am from Gaza, and I never imagined that one day I would reach where I am today. Now I am standing among the mountains of Switzerland, looking around in amazement and trying to understand that this view is real. These are the same mountains I used to see only on my phone screen, and today they are right in front of my eyes. I am standing among them and breathing their air. Sometimes I ask myself: Am I really outside Gaza? Am I truly here, living moments that once seemed so distant and impossible? I feel such deep amazement that I can hardly believe what my own eyes are seeing. Everything here is beautiful and peaceful, but my heart does not feel complete. From the bottom of my heart, I wish my family were here beside me to share this moment. I wish I could see the wonder and happiness in their eyes, and that we could stand together in front of this beauty. I am grateful that I made it here, but my happiness will remain incomplete as long as my family is far away from me. I hope the day comes when we can all be together again in a safe place and experience a moment like this together, without fear or pain.

Here is what I learned from experiencing animated #GaussianSplatting in #mixedreality. File sizes are shrinking. Gracia manages to compress at around 1GB per minute, but once you are done with the download, the experience is mindblowing The crowded dance scene in the middle of the video (captured with a 180-degree rig) was a recent addition and a nice surprise to show how you can be immersed in other types of performances. Temporal stability is tricky. Fast-movements result in some artefacts (especially when you're getting closer). Transparencies are probably even more impressive than reflective surfaces The library keeps growing and I strongly advise you to check it out.

Well, they address all 4 areas of the hips/low back which are: Posterior (backside) Anterior (frontside) Outer Hip Inner Hip So, working on these dilligently addressed a lot of the imbalances, weaknesses, and flare ups that I was constantly having when trying to push through training hard as a D1 athlete. And, as I scaled with them, I actually gained sustainable strength in those areas where I was the weakest.
