Other than acting as landing legs, what's the advantage vs. just having the wings extended permanently?

The interesting part of Morpho is not that it is another inspection drone. It is how it uses the environment itself to extend endurance. Adaptive wings and wind-assisted flight could make a real difference for infrastructure inspection, where time on station matters more than raw speed. That matters for power lines, pipelines, turbines and offshore platforms — places where sending people is expensive, slow or dangerous. The stronger signal is efficiency. Drones are beginning to move from short-duration flying cameras, toward specialized machines designed around the physics of the job. What to watch: real-world endurance, wind tolerance, sensor payloads, and whether operators can deploy it economically at industrial scale.
