Joaquin Phoenix’s performance as Johnny Cash is just so incredibly excellent & the perfect tribute to Cash, I still don’t think we collectively give Phoenix enough credit for his work here. Maybe it’s because the musical biopic has been oversaturated in the years since this movie’s release. But there are very few performances in a musical biopic that top what Phoenix does here.

My most favourite song of Kishore Kumar. It was for the first time I was exposed to a Kishore Kumar song and from then on it was only and only Kishore Kumar for me. The God of singing. His singing goes straight to the soul. Door ka Raahi 1971 Kishore besides acting also directed the movie and composed music for the movie. This track serves as a massive milestone for Sulakshana Pandit. Before becoming a famous actress-singer, she used to sing in Kishore Kumar's live stage shows. He gave her a major break by choosing her to sing this duet alongside him. Kishore playbacks for his elder brother Dadamoni. The icing on the cake is my one and only favourite Tanuja. Kishore Kumar, Tanuja .. what else do I need ... the picture is complete. ❤️

Here is one such song. Nishaan 1983 sank almost without trace, but this song has remained in memory. A beautifully sung song by Kishore Kumar for that ageing superstar Rajesh khanna. Such songs were almost becoming anachronism in those days, and I do not think this song became too popular. But as far as discerning listeners are concerned, it will count among the best songs of Kishore Kumar. Thank you. Some folks are either too young to know THEEE Michael Jackson or are simply trolling. This is why the new biopic coming out about MJ in October 2025 is so important now. Let these other artists be great in their own light, but the comparisons to MJ are fruitless and pointless and should stop.
