As a kid, if I would’ve gotten a ratty Advent Calendar made from old scraps of fabric with notes in calligraphy I couldn’t even read, I’d run away from home.

Pretty sure you can do it any way you want…..I personally buy 24 bottles of wine snd put them in my fridge….

We have done this in Sweden for decades and I can promise that if a child found a note insted of candy or a gift they would not be happy

A parent should never tie their love for their children to actions by the children. The child will fear losing the parent’s love if they cannot meet up to whatever “because” that love is tied to. They will think if I am not brave mommy wont love me. Its very sad.

Really not smart to write, "I love you because you're brave", or fill-in-the-blank. That's conditional. You write, "I love you because you're you. You're valuable, loveable, wonderful. I love you no matter what."
