MELONI SKIPS UNGA. ARE WE SURPRISED? Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will not attend this week’s U.N. General Assembly, ending a roughly 15-year stretch in which an Italian prime minister took part in the annual high-level debate. The decision also removes the prospect of another face-to-face encounter with President Donald Trump after months of public friction between the two leaders, including disputes over Iran and Trump’s claim that Meloni “begged” him for a photo.
