Ive been trying to add hammer curl but it flairs my elbow tendinitis every time. Any solutions to that issue? Im doing a couple variations of wrist curls twice a week currently but isn't seeming to help.

I’m not sure I have a great answer for you Maybe reduce the load and really focus on slow / controlled reps Wouldn’t work past a 3-4/10 level of pain

As part of my current workout program, I do those twice a week exactly as in your video. I am definitely seeing growth and slowly progressing in the amount of weight and/or number of proper reps per set.

Arms will continue to THRIVE as a result

Another issue I see with arm training is a lack of rest time and to many sets. First set they don’t push close to failure cause they want to save themselves for the following set which is done either rest pause or just with a 1 minute rest period. They should push the first set hard and then rest 3 plus minutes and do it again

Nothing drives me more crazy amongst the new generation of lifters than them calling hammer curls pointless.

An unrelated question sir, If somebody keeps calories at maintance, but keeps training hard and progressive wouldn’t he then build muscle and lose a bit of fat as a result? Essentially a recomp though maybe not as effective as traditional cut/bulk cycle but could it work?

Yes to all of this basically

Just tried these for the first time last night actually and I can do like half of what I can do with my palms up so I guess I found a weak point that I overlooked.

Insertion points and bone structure influence front thickness more than any single muscle. How do you train around your individual anatomy?

Been doing these twice a week for a while. The supported version is key so you don’t swing and turn it into a regular hammer curl. Slow lowering makes a big difference.

I do these hammered with two dbs. The stretch and rotation in the bicep is amazing. Can’t hit that angle with any other curl.

These are a staple for biceps in my workout. I also love the cable machine variation using an angled bench

What if i’m worried about tearing my bicep? See that injury so often with this type of exercise. Whats the best way to try and prevent that from happening?

Dean Turner's profile picture
Dean Turner15 days ago

Pick a weight you can handle Use proper technique Your injury risk is now extremely low

Do you try a preacher curl workout where you do a concentric hammer curl, supinate, and then conventional eccentric?

Dean Turner's profile picture
Dean Turner15 days ago

I would probably never do that

David Hudspeth's profile picture

Noob question, what is the benefit to doing 1 at a time? Better form/easier to focus on the one arm?

Dean Turner's profile picture
Dean Turner15 days ago

On this it’s really just a positioning / setup / alignment thing

Most guys focus on biceps peak, but front thickness comes from brachialis and triceps. Does your solution prioritize those?

Arielle Kruse's profile picture

Okay but are bigger arms really the ultimate goal though.
