I refactored my SwiftUI MorphView after exploring some kavsoft magic. I replaced the standard canvas with a Metal shader implementation of the metaball effect.✨ #SwiftUI #MetalShader #MetaBall

Have you ever wanted your terminal to look like an authentic CRT? Of course you have. Well, LOOK NO FURTHER because the future (or is it the past?) is now. And people ask why you'd ever need a GPU-rendered terminal.... HAH! My yak has no more hair to shave. This demo is crazier than it seems: you can actually specify any custom shader, and the shader API is compatible with ShaderToy, so you can take any off-the-shelf shader from ShaderToy and this works. The tech behind this is super over the top. Ghostty is cross-platform and uses Metal directly on macOS and OpenGL on Linux. Metal and OpenGL use different shading languages. No problem! You specify the custom shader in GLSL (OpenGL language) and it’s automatically translated to SPIR-V (binary IR) then automatically translated to MSL (Metal language). That all happens at runtime because why not. Yeah but this has to kill your battery right? Nope! <1% CPU and <1% GPU because computers are fast (especially when you're working at a relatively low level).

This is how I make a Liquid Glass button with @Framer's AI Agent. Steal it! 1. Asked the agent to build a liquid glass background + a WebGL chromatic metal shader 2. Layered them and tuned till it felt right Prompts below 👇

It's out! Ciderlight is a Metal-based Minecraft renderer + shader for Mac. On my M1 Pro, It runs 60+ FPS on High setting, and 100+ FPS on Low (which still looks great) It's fully open source. Here's a short trailer. Download: GitHub:

Badge Tech 🏅 A real-time enamel pin #GLSL fragment shader. Hover to explode it and see every layer that makes the badge. Procedural patterns or your own SVG, rendered with my raymarch engine for crystal dispersion, GGX metal, enamel and holo foil.

Someone says he built a native Metal renderer for Minecraft, plus a shader designed for it, crediting Claude Opus and Astra for help. → The shader adds volumetric fog, dynamic lighting and water reflections → He says it runs at 60fps at full retina resolution on a 5-year-old MacBook → Minecraft Java normally renders through OpenGL, which Apple deprecated on Mac in 2018 → He built it because shaders have long made Minecraft laggy on Mac Credits: Richard Qi 🐟

Had so much fun redesigning @Expo’s new homepage. Nico, sadly not on X, is a goated designer. Loved working on the Liquid Metal shader. Proud to be part of this amazing team and also to help redesign many parts of the EAS dashboard (still WIP). So many great things to come.

I built a native Metal renderer for Minecraft, and a shader that takes advantage of it: volumetric fog, dynamic lighting, water reflections and more. It runs at 60fps at full retina resolution on a 5-year-old MacBook. I've always hated how laggy minecraft is with shaders, now it's solved. Shoutout to Opus and Astra!

Sticker Wall – Mesh Transform using Metal Shader 😍 One of my favorite parts of Apple iMessage Sticker interaction is actually the Mesh Transform effect and how you "peel" stickers on and off from the surface. It's so satisfying. 💯 Thanks to Janum Trivedi and Alex Widua's code, I was able to get kind of close to this solution 🤩 Here is how I ended up with this solution 👇
