Mayor of Miami, FL, Eileen Higgins called the federal immigration enforcement in her community “inhumane” and “cruel.” “Obviously, we're going to comply with the law, but we are not going to help beyond that, because in my community in South Florida, we are the most affected,” Higgins, a Democrat, said. She added that the looming potential expiration of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians and Venezuelans in the U.S. could have a harmful impact on Miami, saying “our economy is at stake and our humanity is at stake.”

ROBBERY: Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins promised a “deep dive” to find waste and misuse in the city budget — which has DOUBLED in the last 5 years with 77% going to salaries and benefits. Instead, Higgins wants a HALF-A-BILLION DOLLAR credit card while we’re already drowning in debt from Marlins Park and other high interest bonds. Kamala Harris has a record of MASS INCARCERATION BY LOCKING BLACK FOLKS UP policies and allow ILLEGAL MASS IMMIGRATION—policies that threaten to economically and politically marginalize the Black American community. It’s important to emphasize that Luke Campbell is not a Foundational Black American; he is a Bahamian immigrant tether who has built his platform off exploiting and appropriating Black American culture. Campbell has a history of benefiting from the Black community while simultaneously causing harm. His music career has been characterized by a focus on hypersexualizing and degrading Black women—content that he would never promote or release within his own cultural context in the Bahamas. Despite this, he now positions himself as a voice attempting to steer Black American political decisions. In his latest interview, Campbell encouraged support for Kamala Harris under the guise of solidarity with a "Black woman." However, it must be made clear that Kamala Harris (Kamala Harris) does not share the lineage or lived experiences of Black Americans. Her parents are immigrants of Indian and Jamaican descent, with her father’s Jamaican ancestry being one of Hindu and White Irish roots. This makes her identity distinct from the descendants of chattel slavery in the United States. The attempt to frame Harris as a representative of the Black American experience is misleading and dismissive of the unique political and social needs of FBAs. It’s critical for the Black community to scrutinize who truly represents their interests and to reject the imposition of so-called leaders and figures who do not have the best interest of Foundational Black Americans at heart.

Here’s four and a half minutes of Charlie having a respectful dialogue with a black woman who’s likewise respectful to him but has a different viewpoint of “systemic racism” in modern-day America. Charlie engages her with the utmost redirect and dignity and even defends her from some folks in the crowd a few times. Charlie wasn’t racist. He wasn’t anti-black. He simply had a different view of race relations in 2025 America and who’s responsibility it is to fix the black American community, and he also NEVER viewed black people as a whole as a victim class. That might be offensive to some, but it’s certainly doesn’t equate to hate and bigotry. It’s a mere difference of opinion. A racist would’ve let the crowd go at her. A man who believed all black women didn’t have adequate brain processing power to be taken seriously wouldn’t engage respectfully back and forth like this.

And so I've rolled out a plan in consultation with a lot of community leaders to figure out what we can do to address this crisis. And that's ensuring that every new mother, including every Black mother, has access to prenatal care and paid family leave so that after they give birth they can tend to their own health and the health of their child. There's so much that we could do at the federal level to save the lives of Black mothers all across the state. Another issue that I think impacts Black Texans particularly is voting rights and gerrymandering — probably the biggest attack on Black political power since Jim Crow. They are systematically diluting the voting power of Black and brown Texans. And so these two issues in particular I think need a lot of spotlight.
