So you’re telling me people who get handouts don’t actually strive to do anything more than continue getting handouts, and they just stay stuck where they’re at?

This is so sad… and it’s likely the biggest reason why pro athletes end up going broke. Supporting leeches who have no conscience and will bleed you for absolutely everything until you’re dry… before they forget your name. I can’t imagine having 30 years of not having to worry about rent or mortgage payments and having the audacity to ask for ANYTHING. How TF have you not saved for your own damn house by then???

Heard former NFL QB talk about this. It didn't really happen to white players. Not because white players came from money, it was cultural difference.

WTF does his inability to say no to his grifting family have to do with white fans?

Just say No. There's helping out family initially to give a hand up from a bad situation, but lifelong welfare on your success is stupid.

Unfortunately he chose to be an enabler, don’t cry about it and blame them. You kept writing the checks. Man up and handle your business. I don’t care if they are family, a mooch will always be a mooch until you stop it. If you’re going to continue writing the checks, stop complaining like you’re the victim.

Learn how to say no or they will bleed you dry. A lot of times people don't want it to look like they don't have it so they just keep spending the money when people keep asking but you have to say no. Who cares what they think?

A lot of people in life will take from you until you say, "no more." This is why it's important to have boundaries.

If they don’t have a rich cousin athlete, then these same people leech off the government. Govt section 8 housing for decades. Only the landlords don’t complain because our tax dollars pay.

The single most important message you can tell any successful person is to forget where you came from. Run far away from it. The beggars and hangers-on will be an albatross around your neck the rest of your life.

I used this quote in my piece on this on Vice Sports years ago. “Footballs War in the Minds of Black Men” As much as players, particularly the black ones, are chastised in the media for their lavish lifestyles, an NFL contract is the economic hope of many poor black youths and their families. There may only be little more than 1,700 African-American men with deals, but that is still 1,700 six-, seven- and eight-figure deals that families and friends of the players are relying on for their economic security. For all the expensive cars and frivolous clubbing, these guys are also propping up immediate and extended family on their salaries. As the checks get bigger, it’s not surprising the number of kids playing at earlier and earlier ages increases. For too many, this is their answer to debilitating poverty.

My Dad told me this when I was young. Real young maybe 17 or 18 years old. Never lend money you cant stand to lose. Never do for someone and look for something in return. If anything is returned consider it a blessing. Talking about what you did don't mean shit.
