He recalled that while he and Michael Jackson were driving through New York City, they heard the sound of a crane coming down. Michael immediately told him to sample it. Rodney then had to head back to the studio to borrow a digital DAT recording machine, went back to the exact location, and recorded the sound. That level of attention to detail is impressive.
