Origins of Purple Rain, Purple Rain' was originally written as a country song, and was intended to be a collaboration with Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks. I had a classmate from Carson City Nevada that was in Vegas selling merchandise that day. He still struggles from PTSD and survivor's guilt. I met her and she looked me in the eyes and said everything I was saying about Vegas was true. She said there were shootings going on all up and down the strip that night.
