It's all a result of core indifference to non monetary data on the chain. Uncapping op return defaults and removing user configuration over op return size effectively changes block size. The dogs on the street know where it leads eventually if it is ignored.

Dante, I appreciate your efforts in trying to provide a decoding of the immediate drama that Bitcoin faces. Unfortunately, you chose poorly by giving a strong voice to Samson. Oh well. 1) BIP-110 isn't about spam. Nothing can stop that. It's about correcting the wrong that was done with the v30 default change. It's about mitigating risk posed by perception that the Bitcoin network is now open for business to 100K contiguous data (in OP_RETURN) by default, whatever it may be. That change by Core did NOT have consensus. BIP-110 also fixes other abuse that was enabled by Core in 2022 with Taproot, which they refused to fix. We're addressing that too! 2) Samson characterizes history much differently, which begs the question: why? He derides BIP-110 as "lacking concensus". That's rich. As I said, Core v30 didn't have that either. Neither did Segwit, but his revisionism says otherwise. 3) BIP-110 has 1.1% of blocks signaling as of now, but that's not important. What is important is that miners are going to need to make a judgement soon. Risk a mere 0.1% of fees to support Bitcoin as a data storage system, or go with a sure thing that re-affirms Bitcoin is money. My node says Bitcoin is money, because it is running BIP-110. Miners will respect that if they do their homework.

So you are telling me I should not worry to build my fence/bip110 around my house/node, because regardless of what I do the thief/spam will get in. No thank you I choose the fence/bip 110. Bitcoin is money period.

You guys are completely missing the real threat which is the government's ability to decide which chain is #Bitcoin and which one is considered a dividend and taxed as such. Some people are risking selling real Bitcoin for an Altcoin and potentially getting a 30 to 15% tax bill

BIP-110 is bullshit, the total amount of op return data stored in the blockchain today is less than 3-4% and that number has not been increasing over time. The amount of continuous spam on there is an even lower 0.016% of the data stored. This is not a problem that needs fixing!

I knew when I saw that text in the Strategic Bitcoin reserve paper that they could fork Bitcoin this was coming.

The one on the right is a Roughnecks BIP110 block mined. v.nice! (the one on the left is filled with spam which BIP110 fixes). This is a no-brainer! Support and run BIP110!

So 100k op return non consensus change financially supported by spammers is good. But fighting spam non consensus change by bitcoin is money maxis is bad. Got it👍
