Our young giraffe at our Kaluku Neonate Unit in Tsavo can usually be found in the middle of whatever's happening – watching over the smaller orphans, working her way through the browse, keeping a long-necked eye on the daily comings and goings. We rescued her in September last year, after her mother was likely killed by lions. She had narrowly escaped the same fate, and by the time we reached her she was running on her last reserves.
