Q: You had some harsh words for Microsoft at the job of your speech, so why is Trump today awarding the nation's top tech medal to Microsoft's CEO? JD VANCE: Microsoft is a great American company. They also laid off 6,000 Americans workers while replacing them with 6,300 H-1Bs.

🚨 Microsoft is raking in record profits, yet they’re laying off American workers and bringing in thousands on H-1B visas. The entire purpose of the H-1B program is to enable companies to AVOID hiring Americans. This is insane.

.Vice President JD Vance: "There has been no company in the United States, unfortunately, that has abused this system more than Microsoft." Microsoft laid off 6,000 American workers in 2025 after certifying that it could not find qualified American employees — yet the company was approved for more than 6,000 H-1Bs and filed 3,682 PERM applications, including nearly 1,000 applications for the same positions as the laid off American workers.

GEORGE FISHMAN: Microsoft couldn’t get all the H-1Bs it wanted because Congress imposed a cap. So the Bush and Obama administrations helped create a workaround through OPT. That’s what modern OPT became: a way for corporations to evade the H-1B cap. George Fishman

The H-1B program is a scam. Ron DeSantis: ‘Companies lay off Americans while bringing in new H-1Bs. It’s not the best and brightest—it’s a cottage industry, mostly from one country. With AI displacing young workers, why import more foreign labor instead of protecting our own?’

The numbers say H-1Bs raise wages, boost patents, and drive productivity. The story is that H-1Bs aren’t just “workers”—they’re engines of innovation. They're the strivers who crossed the ocean, and brought their fresh new ideas with them.
