Since you loved the other videos, here is another clip of the Harrier featuring yours truly in the backseat of the rare TAV-8B Harrier of the Italian Navy. With the sundown of the USMC AV-8B, the jump jet remains in service only in Italy and Spain.

Last week it was the end of the road and last flight for this AV-8B Harrier assigned to MCAS Yuma. I hate seeing these old warriors being put down. 🫡

Marine AV-8B Harrier caught fire on the USS Kearsarge in 2016. British pilot was unharmed, but what is even more amazing is: It only took the crew 36 seconds to start extinguishing the flames. Go NAVY!

As the U.S. Marine Corps sundowns the AV-8B Harrier II after more than four decades of service, the legendary “jump jet” enters the final chapter of its operational life. With the Harrier now retired from U.S. service, the Harrier’s story is not completely over: the type remains in service only with Italy and Spain, where the unique STOVL aircraft continues to fly. To mark the USMC Harrier Sundown, here’s a 14-minute video that brings back one of my most memorable flying experiences: my flight aboard an Italian Navy TAV-8B Harrier. You can read more about that mission here: Unmistakable and iconic, the AV-8B remains one of the most fascinating combat aircraft ever built. This is my tribute to a legend that, for a little while longer, still refuses to disappear from the skies.

‼️The Harrier Jump Jet family, including the AV-8B Harrier II, was directly inspired by the kestrel bird. The original prototype was named the Hawker Siddeley Kestrel because the bird can hover almost motionless in strong wind. Engineers studied this ability while developing vectored thrust, allowing the jet to hover vertically. This inspiration led to the world’s first operational V STOL combat jet.

As promised, here's some more Harrier footage. Here you get a rare look at the AV-8B and its replacement, the F-35B, flying together. We were joined by the Lightning II STOVL variant as we flew a left-handed racetrack pattern before heading to the ship (Cavour aircraft carrier).

With the retirement of the AV-8B Harrier approaching, I feel the urge to share some more cool videos of the jump jet I have on my HD. Here's a clip showing Italy's Mach Loop (located in the south of the country, between Calabria and Basilicata) from the cockpit. More to come..

Look ma, no hands. Take a look at the control stick inputs required to land a Harrier on the flight deck. Filmed by me with an Insta360 from the backseat of the last Italian Navy TAV-8B.
