Don't sleep on humanoid robots. Humanoid robots are going to play a profound role in our lives, and it will likely be sooner than most expect. I discuss some pivotal questions with jimmah in my effort to gain insight and clarity: - How do you evaluate Tesla's (and other companies') progress with humanoid robots? - Who will be the winner? Or will there be multiple big winners? - How long will it take until we see millions of humanoid robots produced annually? - What's harder for humanoid robots - the hardware of software? - How can we track progress across humanoid robot companies? - What's the next big milestones or demonstrations Tesla can show? Schaeffler is bringing UK's humanoid robots from concept to factory reality. Within the next 5 years, hundreds of humanoid robots will be deployed in Schaeffler's global factories, with beta versions first implemented in 2026–2027. Schaeffler is also becoming the preferred supplier of joint actuators for the humanoid wheeled platform and is jointly exploring next-generation actuator architectures with its partner. More importantly, the two companies will collaborate deeply on data and skills: continuously accumulating real-world manufacturing data through teleoperation, synthetic data, and peripheral data acquisition robots to train AI models, enabling humanoid robots to learn faster and perform more reliably in the factory.

Brain-controlled exoskeletons to train humanoid robots! 🧠 Fourier just presented human tele-operators using brain control interfaces and exoskeletal arms to train humanoid robots on home tasks. The brain control interface is the interesting part. Instead of using a controller or joystick to teleoperate, the operator's movements and intentions are captured more naturally through the exoskeleton and BCI. This means the demonstrations are more fluid, more human-like, and better suited for training robots to perform delicate home tasks. Multiple tele-operators are simultaneously generating training data across multiple robots. This is how you build the dataset needed for eventual full autonomy, without waiting years for it to arrive. This might be the bridge between "robots that work in controlled environments" and "robots that work in homes." Whoever leads humanoid robots and AI will define the next industrial era, and America has the pole position with Tesla. “Get somebody to start those robots and you’re going to have to improve the robots. But we’re going to have robotic factories plus manpower. So we’re going to have enough. We’re going to need the help of robots and other forms of, I guess you could say, employment. The A.I. is being developed and trained by you so it can capture the entire body of human knowledge. The robots will be their workers. Some will go into underground bunkers, but the safest bet for them is the Moon.

There’s two big differences between the way Tesla will train humanoid robots and the way it built Full Self-Driving. - FSD only requires learning three degrees of freedom: turning, accelerating, braking … and a humanoid robot has to learn how to coordinate 50+ joints. - You can sell a Tesla without FSD, which allows you to collect the millions and millions of hours of driving data needed to bootstrap your model ... but you can’t sell an Optimus that hasn’t learned how to do stuff yet. The Optimus Academy is Elon’s attempt to build the data flywheel that Tesla got for free with FSD.
