"Mike Shanahan built a system with the Broncos that made any RB look great. Kyle Shanahan, as the league has evolved, has taken the torch from his father & made a system that makes almost any QB look pretty good. ... Of course Brock Purdy is a system QB."... show more

@getnickwright Chiefs 2018 roster (Mahomes 1st year starting). Kelce, Hill, Sammy Watkins, Kareem hunt, Eric Fisher!!!! Looks like Purdy isn’t the only one who had coach, system, and star players….. but Nick will push the goalpost again.

@getnickwright Look at all the QB’s that had success under Andy Reid. Keep this same energy for Pat and call him a system QB…

@getnickwright Every qb is a product of their system, surroundings to a degree. No qb wins without a system that plays to their strengths. Mahomes isn’t who he is today without Andy Reid. Period.

@getnickwright You can’t give any other quarterback props other than Mahomes and occasionally Lawrence that’s it. And by the way you are so wrong

I’ve never seen this play from Kyle Shanahan & Brock Purdy before. Purdy is the perfect QB for this system…how quickly he’s getting thru his reads is next level.

𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: Shannon Sharpe says that #49ers QB Brock Purdy isn’t an elite quarterback, but a system quarterback, via First Take He says that Kyle Shanahan deserves a lot of the credit for what Purdy is doing right now. “No, he isn’t elite, by no stretch of the imagination. If we remove Deebo, if we remove Kyle Shanahan, if we removed Aiyuk, would we still see this Brock Purdy? He’s a product of the system.”

“There’s a lot of quarterbacks that, as long as they have a starting caliber at any point in them, if you drop them into Kyle Shanahan’s system and they have just enough help, they can look really good.” nick wright says this is why he would’ve waited to pay Brock Purdy:

Maxx Crosby on Brock Purdy: “Anybody that gets in that Niners system, people find a way to discredit them just because of how good Kyle Shanahan is and they’ve always had a lot of talent around him, but you’ve seen Brock in his own right make some plays and do certain things that are not just system-quarterback type plays. He’s one of the better young quarterbacks in the league, man. He’s talented and you see that with how great that offense is able to operate.”

Keyshawn Johnson believes Brock Purdy is a Top-10 quarterback in the NFL: “Regardless of whether people think it’s the Kyle Shanahan system, everybody in the system can’t do the same thing… Cause Jimmy Garoppolo, even though he was in the system, and he went to a Super Bowl, he didn’t play as well as Brock Purdy in the system… Brock is in the second half of the top 10. Wherever you want to put him. You can put him at 7, 8, 9 — as far as I’m concerned he’s in there.”

I told Trent Williams that the 49ers’ explosive pass rate is rivaling the Greatest Show on Turf Rams. Williams responded with a long explanation of how Brock Purdy is the opposite of a “system QB” and his theory as to why many observers continue to misevaluate Purdy

Kyle Shanahan was asked how he thought Brock Purdy played today: “No one played great today. No one coached great today. They got us pretty good. I thought Brock made a number of plays out there, but in the second half it got away from all of us.”

Super Bowl Champion Seahawks QB Sam Darnold credits his career turnaround to his year with the #49ers — sitting behind Brock Purdy & learning from Kyle Shanahan. “It’s funny how it works. I didn’t play great football the first few years of my career, and then I came here to San Francisco, and I learned a ton. And I think because of that year in San Francisco, I was able to learn a ton. Learn from Brock and coach Shanahan.”

Nick Wright says Mac Jones’ performance proves that almost any QB can play at a high level in Kyle Shanahan’s system Chris Broussard wasn’t having any of it: “This is 1 game. Brock Purdy did it for 3 seasons. Is Mac Jones going to be top 5 in MVP voting? Is Mac Jones going to lead them to the Super Bowl? I’ll give you a list of names who couldn’t do it. CJ Beathard, Brian Hoyer, Nick Mullens, and Trey Lance, who you thought was all that.” 🎥: First Things First

🚨 NEW SCHEME 🚨 It's 100% true that Kyle Shanahan is the master at creating open receivers & elevating QB play It's also true that BROCK PURDY - thanks to his quick twitch, presence vs noise, & eyes to move - is helping this offense reach new heights

With the struggles going on at the big league level, let’s instead take a look at my top 15 #SFGiants prospects. The system has taken a big leap in 2025, and San Francisco's top three are as good as any other organization’s best. A (mega) thread 🧵

Brock Purdy is NOT just a game manager. Brock Purdy is a Franchise QB who led his team on a 66 yard drive to beat the reigning Super Bowl Champ Philadelphia Eagles without the stacked roster around him that his haters claimed made him great. PUT SOME RESPECT ON HIS NAME #49ers
