#Milton back to Category 5. Intense hurricane at the core. Does it go to astronomical level again back below 900 mb tonight? We'll see. Hurricane hunters will be in there tonight. Has about 6-10 more hours of interference free atmosphere for intensification.

The calm before the storm in Florida. A gorgeous sunset tonight ahead of Category 5 Hurricane Milton with evacuation traffic heading north. I’ll be in Tampa area tonight and documenting Milton throughout landfall Thursday morning. Keep an eye on my page to see updates about Milton from on the ground 🌀 #milton #flwx #hurricane

Hurricane Polo is one of the most incredible tropical cyclones in modern history: - Went from a tropical storm to Category 5 in ~21 hours - Reached Category 5 intensity three separate times - Second-most intense eastern Pacific hurricane on record (892 mb) - Forecast to make the first documented major-hurricane landfall on the west coast of Baja California tonight - Spent more than 60 hours at Category 5 intensity, an all-time record for the Northeast Pacific - Remnant moisture will bring widespread heavy rain and flooding to the Southwest and central United States - Fastest storm on record in the eastern Pacific to intensify from a tropical depression to a Category 5 hurricane

We are watching something incredibly rare unfold in the Pacific Ocean right now... Hurricane Polo is rapidly intensifying, and the storm has now strengthened into a borderline Category 3 hurricane, with further intensification into Category 5 strength expected by tomorrow evening. This hurricane could look dramatically different just 24 hours from now. If current trends continue, we could be looking at the strongest hurricane of the season!

Pacific Hurricane Polo has just been upgraded to CATEGORY 5 intensity after undergoing one of the most extreme rapid intensification phases ever recorded on planet Earth. In just 24 HOURS, his winds have increased by 110 MPH, and his pressure has detonated by 75 MBAR. This essentially matches Hurricane Otis’ unprecedented intensification rate (over almost the exact same waters near Acapulco) back in 2023. As of now, Polo is not forecast to make landfall in Mexico.

Hurricane #Polo remains a major category 3 hurricane with winds of 115mph. It will make landfall tonight in Baja California Sur, then cross the Gulf of California into Sonora. On its heels is Tropical Storm #Rachel, which will become a hurricane west of Mexico mid to late week.

Hurricane Lowell just EXPLOSIVELY intensified from a 90 MPH Category 1 to a 125 MPH Category 3 in only 3 HOURS. This is a nuclear rate of intensification for the open Central Pacific Ocean, and Lowell is now forecast to approach CAT 5 intensity about ~500 miles SE of Hawaii.

With the sun setting on the now Category 5 Hurricane #Milton, we'll offer these words from the National Hurricane Center forecast discussion... "This is a very serious situation and residents in Florida should closely follow orders from their local emergency management officials. Evacuations and other preparations should be completed today. Milton has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for west-central Florida."

🇲🇵 LANDFALL: Category 5 Super Typhoon Bavi has made landfall over the Pacific Ocean island of Rota with extreme winds of 180 MPH and a core pressure near 900 MBAR, becoming the strongest storm to strike the United States or its territories since the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane, and the most intense by pressure since Hurricane Camille (1969).

HURRICANE POLO HAS REACHED CATEGORY 5 STRENGTH FOR THE THIRD TIME! Polo has once again exploded into a 180 mph Category 5 hurricane, marking the third separate time the storm has reached Category 5 intensity. This is an extraordinary milestone: Polo is the first hurricane on record to reach Category 5 strength three separate times with all three peaks occurring in the Eastern Pacific. And at 180 mph, Polo has once again reached the third-highest wind speed ever recorded in the Eastern Pacific. Polo is certainly one for the history books.

Almost all Major Hurricanes undergo an eyewall replacement cycle. Melissa never did. She sustained CATEGORY 5 status for 35 consecutive hours, the 8TH longest total duration of Cat 5 winds ever documented in an Atlantic Hurricane, and the longest since Hurricane Irma in 2017. Instead of initiating replacement cycles, Melissa underwent eyewall mergers, which caused only short-lived pauses in her intensification and allowed her to incrementally climb to an extreme strength as she slowly writhed towards Jamaica. It is exceptionally rare to see a high-level Hurricane eye remain so perfectly circular and clear for so many days on end.

Wow! Some models showing the eye of #hurricane #MILTON never fills in. Makes it all the way across #Florida to Cape Canaveral. Tampa Bay is under huge threat - 10-15 FT. Rapid intensification could see this storm hit 185 mph. The climate has already changed.

I am almost sure that #Tampa, #Florida will be spared the worst of #hurricane #Milton and it appears very likely the storm may make landfall and a direct hit on #FortMyers. For most of the night Milton has been hugging the lowest level on National Hurricane Center's projected path (cone) or has wandered south of it a few times. Since then it has been pretty much following the lowest point of the cone right into Fort Myers. There is still a possibility it may track slightly south of there, just north of #Naples.
