Minister says water privatisation has enabled "clean & plentiful water". What?? Since privatised, water firms have borrowed a staggering £53bn, much of that to help pay £72bn shareholder dividends - while sewage pours into rivers & seas. Privatisation has utterly failed We Own It

@We_OwnIt Well said Caroline

@We_OwnIt Why is it permissible for ANY organisation to pay shareholder dividends from borrowing and debt? Isn’t that essentially a Ponzi Scheme?

@We_OwnIt The Thames Water crisis is entirely self-made... 'When Margaret Thatcher sold off the water industry in 1989, the government wrote off all debts amounting to £5bn and granted the water companies a further £1.5bn of public money, known as a "green dowry".'

@jennynorthern21 @We_OwnIt Caroline, privatisation of the railways, energy, Royal Mail, social care & water have ALL utterly failed. The rationale, allegedly, was to deliver competitiveness leading to greater efficiency & value for money that nationalisation couldn’t deliver. The opposite has happened!

@We_OwnIt Make it illegal for a company to distribute dividends when that company is in the red.

@stephenkeeler @We_OwnIt Surely dividends should be paid out of profits or retained earnings not loans ... 🤔

@StandardsOur @We_OwnIt YET MORE LYING! MORE GASLIGHTING! THEY MAKE IT UP AS THEY GO…..😡😡😡😡

@Bob_in_NYorks @We_OwnIt It's the tory way. They say everything is absolutely fine and won't acknowledge there is even a problem. That way they don't have to fix it.

@Gilly09934700 @We_OwnIt Why do they always come out with the *opposite* of the truth - and Get Away With It?? 😡😡😡
