Given the choice between water bills going up £150 on average next year, or water companies failing Jenny Jones says "let them fail and we can buy them for 50p" Shareholders have had £2bn a year since privatisation. We have got sewage in rivers.

@GreenJennyJones The fact that there IS sewage in rivers means that the water companies have ALREADY failed. They should face crippling fines that shareholders should be held to account for.

@GreenJennyJones The chaos of the water industry sums up everything about post Thatcher Britain. The decline of the public realm, things not working anymore, the taxpayer being fleeced and the rich getting a lot richer.

@GreenJennyJones Good idea... John Major sold off our railways for £1 on the last day that he was PM.

@GreenJennyJones “A civilisation may be judged by the way it disposes of its waste” We flush it with our drinking water into our rivers, lakes & seas, killing nature & making us sick. And it is in debt laden utilities, fat cat CEO’s, useless politicians & Victorian sanitation we entrust.

@CounsellingSam @GreenJennyJones Saving the banks led to years of austerity. It wasn't worth it. Let the water companies file for bankruptcy. Nationalise!

@GreenJennyJones Should be the case for all public utility companies.

@GreenJennyJones Couldn't agree more. Re-nationalising is the only way - plus a new regulator that isn't part of the problem.

@GreenJennyJones When the water industry was privatised we were promised that it would lead to greater investment in its infrastructure, which was needed then. Thatcher lied. Then we were told the same when the railways were privatised. Major lied. Privatisation does not lead to better services.

@GreenJennyJones Why should taxpayer's pay even more money to greedy CEO's and shareholders of water companies who are helping themselves to huge bonuses rather than reinvesting into our waterways @GreenJennyJones @GreenJJNews Hear, hear. Spot on yet again. 👏
