Ministers have refused to confirm Labour’s commitment to the triple lock – which guarantees that pensions will rise in line with inflation, 2.5% or average earnings, whichever is the largest increase – will be in that manifesto. That has fuelled speculation that a change in the way pensions are...

The Labour party is finished, they are giving recourses and taxes to everyone except the tax payers, we need a national strike. If we are all going to be put out to pasture we are better off doing it while it hurts their pockets and the paychecks of their mates, they are horrible.

Streeting confirmed Labour's commitment to the triple lock yesterday, what a mess.

Ffs,smirky Reid really does hate pensioners. Keeps smirking when interrupting him while he tries to put Reforms ideas over. Same with Balls, smirking aswell.

Absolute class by Jenrick when Big Balls said 'give your economic advisor another chance!' Jenrick said ' shall i hire you Ed?'. Balls smiled smugly to which Jenrick then said ' don't worry I'm not that desperate!' 🤣😂🤣😂 Fat Balls went bright red 🤣😂🤣😂

Making pensioners poorer isn’t the answer. The money from the triple lock will go directly into the pockets of private care providers. Many Politicians have interests in these companies.

This lying grifter would get rid of the triple lock in a flash and raise the pension age to ensure nobody reaches it.

It's a case of your not paying any taxes so MP'S can't feather their nest with taxpayers money so we are just going to drop your money and put you deep in poverty

Tell you what, let’s scrap the MPs wage increase, their gold plated pensions, the House of Lords in its entirety, then start on the public! 😡

ask Ed Balls if he remembers when Gordon Brown robbed the pension pot of billions which in turn was probably the root cause of whats happening today

#gmb @susannareid100 @edballs @JohnHealey_MP Stealing money from future security for pensioners is proof Britain is in a desperate state but the amounts of money saved is not really much in government terms. Who next will be robbed?

How can dancing balls be a credible unbiased presenter? When he’s sleeping with the heath secretary if that’s what she is this week. She’s nearly had every job in the cabin either very good or very bad at all of them. If only they interview the labour party like reform

Ok @UKLabour scrap the triple lock and replace it with the "MP lock" so the pension rises in line with the MP annual pay increase 🤔😉

I dare say Balls has a golden MP's pension to relax back on, & Reid must have signed up to a BBC bonus pack so neither probably have skin in the game, hence their dismissive attitude towards Jenrick's deep & well meaning defence of the triple lock & pensioners contentious plight!

When Wes Streeting spoke yesterday he was right to talk about Labour’s role in building the welfare state and the NHS. What often gets left out is how Attlee’s government sold that system to the public in 1948. People were told: pay your National Insurance, “buy your stamp,” and the state will hold that money so you get a proper pension later. It was framed as a contract you earned through decades of work, not charity. That story made higher taxes easier to accept for generations. The problem is it was never quite true. There was never a pot with your name on it. National Insurance has always been pay-as-you-go: today’s workers pay for today’s pensioners. That’s why the Triple Lock row feels so raw. For years the state pension has risen faster than working-age benefits and a lot of public-sector pay. Workers have been funding that growth through higher taxes, while many pensioners believed they were simply drawing down money they had already put aside. Now ministers won’t confirm the Triple Lock will stay in the next manifesto and are talking about using pension savings to help fund social care. Labour is unpicking a myth it helped create. Was the welfare state built on a quiet lie — that your stamp was money being saved for *you*?

Will he also review gold plated civil servants pensions. Public sector index linked pensions. Uniformed exception pensions that can be claimed from 60. Early departure pensions. Legacy pensions. guaranteed predictable, inflation-linked income for life for train drivers.

How can you talk about 'means testing' pensions! Why do we tax payers bother? Work your whole life, pay into the system, try and better yourself just to be penalised to give to the people that have never added to 'the pot' 🙄 It's no wonder that people are giving up trying!

Minister confirmed it (for this parliament) just now on GMB Pensioners lose the triple lock but get free care? Jenrick is against this boost for the little bit wealthier. Pensioner needs taxi to supermarket or local shop price, someone to collect but not care will lose out.
