Because they are kids and it shouldn't matter how much money their parents have. If a kid is hungry, feed them. They are kids. I seriously don't get how the party of "family values" sees a problem.

I'm so proud of MN Gov Tim Waltz. I'm was a first grade educator who took my students through the lunch line, saw the cafeteria switch out a hot lunch for a cold sandwich all because children had an unpaid balance on their account. I refused it and paid for the lunch myself!

I worked in a school in a wealthy CT. community. There were kids who forgot lunch money or did not have funds. It’s important to be nice to the lunch ladies. My charges, the first graders never went hungry. Feed the children, all the children.

Even ignoring the haves vs have nots comments... It's likely cheaper or close enough to just make it free for everyone than it is to build and feed a means-testing bureaucratic machine.

Students cannot think and concentrate on school work if they're hungry. Provide free breakfast and lunch for all students.

Ironic that Republicans, most of whom who call themselves Christians, don’t remember that Jesus feeding people was important to his mission. Remember the loaves and fishes?
