At a press briefing, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said he has seen the video circulating of a fatal shooting by federal law enforcement agents, but he does not yet know “what happened prior to the shooting.” O’Hara declined to name the victim but said he was a 37‑year‑old Minneapolis resident and that “the only interaction that we are aware of with law enforcement has been for traffic tickets,” and that the man was believed to be a lawful gun owner with a permit. DHS says the victim "approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun.
