Police on Tuesday discovered the body of an elderly woman found stuffed inside a suitcase and dumped into Ramohalli lake in Kumbalgodu, West Bengaluru. The deceased has been identified as Jayamma (61), a resident of Kengeri. "Police personnel recovered the body. The family has positively identified the woman. We are launching a murder investigation," a senior police officer told to media. According to police, Jayamma’s family filed a missing person case on July 16, stating that she disappeared after 3.35 pm the previous day when she left home. Her phone was later found switched off. The family inquired with friends, family and neighbours but failed to find her, according to the FIR. Kumbalgodu police have launched an investigation, suspecting the woman was murdered elsewhere before her body was disposed off in the lake. “We are scouring CCTV footage and examining other technical evidence for clues," the officer added.

According to police, Jayamma’s family filed a missing person case on July 16, stating that she disappeared after 3.35 pm the previous day when she left home. Her phone was later found switched off. The family inquired with friends, family and neighbours but failed to find her, according to the FIR. Kumbalgodu police have launched an investigation, suspecting the woman was murdered elsewhere before her body was disposed off in the lake. “We are scouring CCTV footage and examining other technical evidence for clues," the officer added.
