Sara Duterte to blame for the lower 10 billion computerization budget I cannot and will not argue with you regarding what our constitution says; that education should get the highest budget. You are correct. I do not know what’s the next step on this but for me? The budget cut at the very least for computerization was justified and here’s why: I followed the Committee on Appropriations hearings for the budget of the Department of Education in both houses of the legislative. I have been writing a lot of this. The decision of Congress was based on facts —- things they already raised with the agency numerous times, even before the budget season. Just for a quick appreciation of facts: in 2022 11.3B was allocated for the DepEd Computerization Program, in 2023 11B. A total of more than 20 billion pesos! According to the COA’s DepEd 2023 report, only Php 2.075 billion of its 11.3 billion budget was utilized. So forgive me for agreeing with this budget cut, unless the new DepEd Secretary can prove that he can fix the internal issues of the agency — I would rather give way to other programs in our tight fiscal space. “How can Secretary Angara defend DepEd’s lack of action when the Philippines is already at rock bottom in global education rankings? A teacher-to-computer ratio of 30:1 is unacceptable in 2024. We need to see drastically improved utilization rates before any discussion of budget increases or restoration” -Rep. Rodge Gutierrez I also want to emphasize the alleged rigged bidding of these computers costing us Php 1.6 Billion pesos as Rep. Jil Bongalon pointed out. You may find my post from months ago interesting: So yes! Sara Duterte’s incompetence as DepEd Secretary was the basis of this budget cut. I am also interested to see how the Office of the President will reconcile the fact that the education sector should get the highest budget allocation. Please note that the President can veto line items of the General Appropriations Bill, not necessarily the whole GAB.

many friends keep asking me which AI model is the best for lip sync or talking characters, so here’s my honest personal breakdown based on my experience using these tools. this is purely from my perspective, so feel free to agree, disagree, or add your own insight. seedance 1.5 pro Pros: Super clear voice, strong pronunciation, expressive facial movement. Cons: Still only outputs 720p, so even if your source image is 4K it gets compressed a lot. Kling 2.6 Pros: Image quality stays top tier, expressions feel soft and natural, skin texture looks extremely realistic. For talking characters with lots of motion, this is currently the best. Cons: Audio still has noise, doesn’t feel bold enough yet, and usually needs manual sound mixing to make it truly HD. Veo 3.1 Pros: HD quality, lip movement matches tone and timing really well, voice sounds powerful. Cons: Slightly stiff at times, and sometimes it auto-adds extra dialogue if your script is shorter than the video duration. WAN 2.6 Pros: Very natural expression and excellent language precision, especially Chinese. Voice clarity is impressive. Cons: Sound sometimes feels too “treble heavy,” like it’s pushed too hard, so it can feel a bit distorted. and yes I tested all of these inside If you’ve tried them too, I’d love to hear your experience✨

Guys, in the last week, I've heard of 3 of my friends get "#vbridger" on their rigs and it's like, not rly vbridger?? u_u I understand that other riggers do not charge as much as I do for it. It's not easy to rig - but some transparency of what you're actually rigging would be kind to your clients! I want to pls request that if ur offering vbridger - but you only actually rig a restricted amount of the parameters - to state that in ur comm page! My friends have been given rigs where they had paid for "vbridger" and then they use the rigs and they're just utterly disappointed that their mouth doesn't seem to look or function like vbridger. Either because only some vbridger parameters were rigged or they were not put in or calibrated into VTS for the client. Some have never even actually opened the vbridger app to make sure it works! They just rig it in l2d and call it good. VBridger adds like 5 new parameters to the default 2 required for mouth function (4 are shown in the video attached because Jaw Open kinda goes with Mouth Open). If you will not be adding all 5 of these new parameters on your paying client's rig, please be transparent either on your price list or in your comms. QnQ Clients!!: Learn what your vbridger mouth should look like too! Don't be angry at your rigger if maybe it doesn't look like what you expected, but at least make sure you have the parameters that are exclusive to vbridger included in your rig. Just do a nice safety check. The video is so clients can understand what vbridger includes, what the forms look like, and hopefully will know how to make the faces to test the models they get. I'm sorry to cause trouble and more work for riggers, but I do very much care about client transparency and if you feel what you're charging isn't enough to motivate you to rig all of vbridger or learn it, either raise your pricing or state transparency of it on your site! Where are we in the consumer AI cycle? I went on Bloomberg Technology to discuss what we a16z are seeing from studying the data since 2023. So far, a rising tide has lifted all boats. But, we're starting to see ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini diverge in approach to winning the consumer. My main takeaways 👇 1. ChatGPT is still dominant - but the race for "default AI" is on. On web, ChatGPT is 2.7x larger than #2 Gemini. On mobile, 2.5x larger. But, ~20% of weekly ChatGPT users are now also using Gemini in the same week - and Claude is growing quickly with developer and prosumer use cases. 2. AI is going global - but not where you'd expect. We built a per-capita adoption index by country - Singapore ranks #1, followed by Hong Kong, the UAE, South Korea. The U.S. is down at #20 - with both a smaller % of white collar workers for whom AI is valuable, and more cultural pushback. 3. The creative tool category has completely transformed. In our first edition, 7 of 9 creative tools were image generators. Today only 3 remain - video, music, and voice have taken their slots. OpenAI and Google focusing on native image gen means you need to be specialized to standalone. 4. Agents are here. Manus and Genspark both made the web ranks - and if our data was for February (not January), OpenClaw would have debuted at #30! But, it has still not escaped containment to the mainstream consumer - expect more packaging around agents for specific use cases. 5. AI is leaving the browser. Between Cursor, Claude Code + Cowork, Granola, Wispr, and others, users are increasingly interacting with AI via desktop apps. We will have to evolve our methodology as AI becomes more ambient - and can't be measured by a website hit or app download. 6. AI-enhanced (not AI-native) players are waking up. For the first time, we included six legacy products that are now meaningfully AI enabled. Only 3 made the top 15 on web - including Notion, which reports 50% of ARR from AI. The others? Canva, Freepik, Grammarly, Capcut, and Picsart. Thanks to Caroline Hyde and Ed Ludlow for having me on - can't wait to see what the report looks like in another 6 months!

Read this logic and tell me why there isn't a dude making $20k/month with an inflatable mechanical bull at every mall and farmer's market in America: - Cost: $5k upfront - Kiosk rent at a nice, busy mall: $4k/month - Malls are open for 70 hours/week. Price it at $15 for 1 ride or $20 for 3. - Your only variable cost is a $15/hour employee. The electricity is included in your rent (I had a mall kiosk a lifetime ago) - All you need is the bull and an iPad to process the liability waver and accept payments. 1st month doesn't work out? NBD. It's a month to month lease. Sign a long term lease for a discount. Sell the bull on CL for a $1k loss. The rides last 1 - 30 seconds. Let's say average ticket size is $17. Slow hours you have 2 customers and busy hours you have 20. Let's say 6 customers per hour to be conservative. 6 * $17 * 70 hours/week * 4.5 weeks/month = $32k/month top line. Payroll, insurance and rent costs are ~35%. 65% net margins or $20k profit per month. More customers than expected? 70+% margins. The Galleria Dallas gets 33,000 visitors per day. You telling me you can't convince 60 of them to ride a bull? Be sure to have surge pricing. $25 when there's a line on the weekend. $5 when it's dead. Find an employee that can sell to passersby. Can't lose. Who's in? I got this idea after taking my son to a church event that had one. You know I HAD TO quiz the operator. These numbers are very conservative. Retail is all about experiences nowadays. This would be a great experience, and very short form video-able. My fox shooting garden defending AI robot is finally done and WORKING! 🤩 (Don’t worry it only shoots 💦 water) After months of slowly moving forward with each part I finished the last step to train a TensorFlow model on the footage of the 🦊 fox I collected hours of footage 📹 with the fox roaming around my garden, from this I labeled around 2000 images with the fox by hand ✋ Honestly, I was quite skeptical training the model was actually gonna work, maybe this was partly the reason I avoided working on this until the very end. If I couldn’t train a model to detect the fox, this whole robot would never be able to function properly. On the flipside though, with no previous experience in hardware or electronics there was a bit of a learning curve and I didn’t want to end up labeling thousands of images, training a TensorFlow model, only to fail on building the hardware. As I started building, I realized that mixing hardware and software adds quite another dimension to debugging things. At times I wasted hours debugging code in my IDE, only to realize the issue was somewhere in the electronics. Furthermore, combining this side project with a full time job and a young family, is not always easy. It can be quite frustrating, to know you only need 4 hours of concentrated effort for a small task, having to spread it out across a week of 20min increments. Then, a few months into the build I noticed the fox had stopped coming to my garden, in fact one day, I recorded her walking with 3 cute little 🐶 pups, and the next day I saw her moving out of my garden completely. Did she know I was building a robot? I had this strange mix of feelings, happy my garden was safe from poop and digging, happy she was safe with her pups, but how was I gonna finish this project if my robot had no fox to detect? For sure they would be back next year, I figured I could postpone the whole thing until next winter, but I also knew it was gonna be much harder to pick up momentum if I did let it sit there for six months. So I decided to keep working, hoping the fox would reappear,.. but she never did. As I finished labeling the footage and started training my model, I could finally see the mAP results, quantifying the precision of my object detection model. It was measuring at 78% across different metrics on detecting my fox. I quickly ran the model on some of the video footage I got from my fox. Inference speed took a hit, but it did a near perfect job detecting the fox, even when she was deep down in the grass or wizzing past in a motion blur. It took me by surprise how well it worked. With the default model I had to drop my confidence threshold way down to 15%, to recognize the fox as 🦜“bird” in one or two frames, with my custom model it followed the fox all the way down to the back of the garden! Still this didn’t solve the issue of there being no actual fox in my garden and how was I gonna wrap this project in a short timeframe. I played with the idea of putting a fox toy 🧸 on an RC 🚗 car, or borrowing a dog to run around the garden to test. Friends suggested I run around the garden in a fox costume.. what a ridiculous idea. I wasn’t really feeling the idea of running around the garden in a floppy cloth fox 🎭 costume, but had a look anyway. I came across these self inflating costumes. This actually could be perfect. Since it’s inflated, it would hold its shape super well, making it much easier to label, train and be recognized by my robot. So I got the costume and shot a time lapse of myself as a fox walking around the garden. I labeled it to around 600 images. Ran the model training again and got a mAP result of 82%. This was even better than my real fox! At this point I knew this was gonna work. So here’s the final 🎥 video, just having some fun with it. I’ll update here whenever the real fox does come back. On a final note, I’m looking for (remote) jobs in these fields of AI now: - object detection - visual generative AI - 3D (nerfs + gaussian splats) So if you know anything let me know! I played with the idea of putting a fox toy 🧸 on an RC 🚗 car, or borrowing a dog to run around the garden to test. Friends suggested I run around the garden in a fox costume.. what a ridiculous idea. I wasn’t really feeling the idea of running around the garden in a floppy cloth fox 🎭 costume, but had a look anyway. I came across these self inflating costumes. This actually could be perfect. Since it’s inflated, it would hold its shape super well, making it much easier to label, train and be recognized by my robot. So I got the costume and shot a time lapse of myself as a fox walking around the garden. I labeled it to around 600 images. Ran the model training again and got a mAP result of 82%. This was even better than my real fox! At this point I knew this was gonna work. So here’s the final 🎥 video, just having some fun with it. I’ll update here whenever the real fox does come back. On a final note, I’m looking for (remote) jobs in these fields of AI now: - object detection - visual generative AI - 3D (nerfs + gaussian splats) So if you know anything let me know!
