The biggest platform upgrade since Mainnet, explained by our Co-Founder Alessandro De Carli ☁️ 🫡 Acurast is moving from a Node.js-only runtime to full Linux-based containers. Every Android Acurast Processor on the network now functions as a decentralized server with confidential execution at the hardware level. No language barriers, full Debian software ecosystem, SSH access, and a VPS-like experience. What you can build: autonomous AI agents, browser automation across thousands of devices, algorithmic trading bots, even game servers. Running across the Acurast network on Android smartphones in 175+ countries. Decentralized Cloud. Same developer experience. No compromises. The future of compute does not live in a data center, it lives in your pocket. 👇

How does Cargo look like? What you're seeing looks like a standard SSH session into a VPS. Log in, update packages, install Python3, Node.js, Golang, Vim etc.. The workflow is identical to any cloud server. What changes is the host isn't a data center. It's an Android phone connected to the Acurast network, running a full Linux container directly on the device. Workloads execute inside the phone's secure element with hardware-level confidential execution, hidden from the host OS and the device owner. Until Cargo, Acurast Processors ran JavaScript and Node.js workloads only. Now if it builds for Linux, it runs on Acurast. Live on Canary Network. Mainnet coming soon. Learn more:

Security is boring until it isn’t. The phone in your pocket is a highly secure hardware module. It proves the compute is real and keeps workloads confidential. That is why mobile devices can power trustless, decentralized compute without fake hardware or prying eyes. Want to put your phone to work? Get started on Acurast today.

Acurast contributors joined the OKX AI Hackathon to prove what's possible when AI agents can securely execute real code with no cloud, no trust assumptions. The result: the Acurast Confidential TEE agent on the OKX AI Marketplace. It runs Shell or Python inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) on Acurast's decentralized phone network. Every execution is confidential, verifiable, and paid seamlessly via x402.

Elon Musk reveals: in 5–6 years, there are no apps. No operating systems either. All because of AI. The thing in your pocket stops being a phone. It becomes an edge node for AI. Server-side AI talking to on-device AI. Real-time video of whatever you want. Generated on the fly. There is no App Store. There is no home screen. There is no “open Instagram.” You don’t choose software. The model anticipates what you want and puts the pixels on the screen. Apps become Blockbuster. The phone becomes a speaker and a pane of glass.

In our recent CoinMarketCap Space, Alessandro got the question he's heard since day one: building a compute network out of smartphones sounded strange to a lot of people at first. Here's the case that changes minds: your phone is already a reliable, always-on computer. Think about how long your alarm clock phone goes without a restart. Weeks. Months. Acurast never runs in the background, so you choose when to dedicate a device. Overnight while it charges, or full-time with a spare. Either way, it just keeps going. See the clip from the Space below.

My dream since the late 1960s: To have a device that fits in my pocket and with no other connection and contain the entirety of human wisdom. This week I got it. I have an AI model to be trapped on a south sea island with and help you survive. It only gets better from here.

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas on the biggest threat to the data center industry: It's not competition. It's not regulation. It's decentralisation. "The biggest threat to a data center is if the intelligence can be packed locally on a chip that's running on the device and then there's no need to inference all of it on like one centralized data center." He outlines how this could work in practice. Personalisation doesn't necessarily require on-device model training. Retrieval augmented generation, tool calls, and local data can already tailor AI to individual users. But the real unlock? Test time training. Aravind Srinivas describes a future where AI lives on your device, watches how you work and gradually automates your repetitive tasks. "Imagine we crack test time training where the AI watches tasks you repeatedly do on your local system, adapts to you over time and starts automating a lot of the things you do." The key insight: in this model, the intelligence belongs to you. It's your data, your device, your personalised AI brain. And if that future arrives, the economics of centralised infrastructure start to collapse. "That really disrupts the whole data center industry. It doesn't make sense to spend all this money, 500 billion, 5 trillion, whatever on building all the centralized data centers across the world that do a lot of the intelligence workloads for people." The companies spending trillions on centralised infrastructure may want to rethink where intelligence actually needs to live.

Jev by TypeSafe AI is now on the Venice API, in beta. It answers, it doesn't write. Send it your app's state and typed questions. Get back a typed answer your code can branch on: a probability, a chosen option, or a score on your rubric. No JSON to coax out of a chat model.

"A data center is one of the absolute worst economic development tools that you can have in a community. It doesn't create any jobs. It doesn't create any knock-on economic effects, because the only thing that wants to be located next to a data center is a data center." It's time to ban tax breaks for data centers. Pat_Garofalo breaks it down on MS NOW:
