They don’t make it like they used to

The fact that they look better than the one in my bedroom

Looks like it’s made better than what we have today.

The 50's were more futuristic than now.

I never knew furnitures were this good during 1958

We need a lot MORE folding furniture. Of good quality, not the cheap plastic crap. Like fold out hiding beds that don't suck, and stand alone wardrobes that are cheap but heavy duty and super sturdy. (No rhyming intended lol.)

Beautiful! We can still use these ideas for furniture, such compact and elegant designs 😍 It somehow reminded me of @IKEA

This is one of the times i wish we could go back to the old days 😄😄

we had much potential but all we did was just invent 16 other genders

Beautiful dressing table

Progress was being made in leaps and bounds. Man could see his future in the stars and flying cars. Then it stopped.

👍

I hope my carpenter is seeing this.

1958 was a remarkable year for modern furniture design, with a variety of iconic pieces that continue to be celebrated and sought after today. Here are some highlights from that year: 1. **Eames Desk and Return**: Designed by Charles and Ray Eames, this desk and return set exemplifies mid-century modern design with its clean lines and functional form. It is a testament to the Eames' innovative use of materials and their focus on creating furniture that was both practical and aesthetically pleasing. 2. **Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair**: This year saw the introduction of the Egg Chair, a product of Danish designer Arne Jacobsen's collaboration with the furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen. The Egg Chair's unique shape and comfort made it an instant classic and a favorite among design enthusiasts. 3. **Eames Side Chair**: Another notable creation from Charles and Ray Eames, the Eames Side Chair, also known as the "Eiffel Chair," was produced in 1958. Its molded plastic seat and metal wire base offer a perfect blend of form and function. 4. **Aluminium Group Chairs**: Designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, the Aluminium Group Chairs were introduced in 1958. These chairs are known for their innovative use of materials and their ergonomic design, which provides exceptional comfort. 5. **Poul Henningsen's PH5 Pendant Lamp**: Although not strictly furniture, Poul Henningsen's PH5 Pendant Lamp is an iconic piece of lighting design from 1958. Its innovative design diffuses light in a way that reduces glare and creates a warm, comfortable atmosphere. These pieces not only represent the pinnacle of modern design in 1958 but also continue to influence contemporary furniture and lighting design. Their timeless appeal and enduring popularity are a testament to the genius of their creators and the enduring appeal of mid-century modern design.
