BREAKING... MARYAM SANDA: I HAVE ACCEPTED HER PARDON IN GOOD FAITH - FATHER OF MURDERED HUSBAND The biological father of the late Bilyaminu Bello, who was murdered by his wife, Maryam Sanda, in 2017, on Wednesday expressed his joy over the pardon of his daughter-in-law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In an unexpected turn of events which underscores an exceptional demonstration of forgiveness and large-heartedness, he said he had been on a quiet quest to secure freedom for Maryam, who had been on death row since her sentencing for the murder of her husband. Speaking at a joint press conference with Alhaji Garba Sanda, father of Maryam, Alhaji Ahmed Bello Isa stated that his motivation was purely humanitarian, and that he wanted his daughter-in-law released so she could look after her two young children, and that executing her would not bring back his son. He explained that, as a devout Muslim, he had long accepted the tragic incident which has been a subject of public discussion, choosing to forgive and leave judgment to Allah. He said he had previously written to both the then Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command in 2019, to seek clemency for Maryam Sanda. Although those early appeals went unanswered, the recent pardon granted by President Tinubu under the Presidential Prerogative of Mercy finally brought his request to fruition. ARISE News is in possession of his letter dated December 16 2024, titled “Request for Exercise of Prerogative of Mercy for My Daughter-in-Law, Maryam Sanda Sentenced to Death by Hanging." He confirmed reports that some family members objected to his forgiveness and petition for clemency, saying he understood that people would hold different opinions on such a sensitive matter, but as both a father and a Muslim, he believes this was the best course of action for peace and humanity. Also speaking, Alhaji Garba Sanda, father of Maryam, expressed deep gratitude to Alhaji Bello and his entire family for their rare act of compassion, describing it as “a true reflection of faith and forgiveness.”

A 28-year-old businessman in Faridabad died by suicide inside his shop on Sunday after hanging himself. Before taking the extreme step, he posted a video on Instagram in which he accused his wife and her family of mentally harassing him. Police have launched an investigation and are also examining the allegations made in the video. In the Instagram video posted before his death, Rahul accused his wife Jyoti, his mother-in-law Veena, his father-in-law Bittu and his wife's sister Neetu of mentally harassing him. He claimed that despite doing all household chores, including sweeping and washing utensils, he was assaulted, and false cases were filed against him. He said he had been living under constant mental stress. Rahul also said in the video that his wife and her family were responsible for his death and should be punished according to the law. He further said that after his death, his property should go to his mother, sister and brothers. The victim, Rahul, had opened a garment shop around four months ago. According to police, Rahul met his mother at home on Sunday morning before leaving for his shop. A short while later, he hanged himself inside the shop. ⭕️ REPORT | Ali al-Samoudi, 59, one of the most prominent Palestinian journalists in the West Bank, was released Thursday after enduring a year in Israel’s torture prisons, without charge or trial, Quds News reported. He said he lost half his body weight—dropping from 120 kg to 60—describing Israeli prisons as a “graveyard for the living.” Al-Samoudi was initially held for 80 hours in a military barracks in Jenin, handcuffed and blindfolded, without water, food, or medicine, before being severely beaten during his transfer to Megiddo prison, where his glasses were broken and his clothes confiscated. He suffered stomach, colon, head, and eye pain, urinary tract infections, and loss of consciousness throughout his detention, according to lawyers. He said to his lawyer: “They informed me that I am being detained because I am a journalist and correspondent for Al Jazeera and Al-Quds newspaper. We will not bring charges against you related to your journalistic work, lest there be an international backlash and scandal for Israel.” The Israeli military initially accused al-Samoudi of transferring funds to the armed resistance group Palestinian Islamic Jihad, but provided no evidence — and military prosecutors never leveled that accusation in court. Al-Samoudi was present at the scene and wounded in May 2022 when an Israeli sniper killed Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh during a raid on Jenin refugee camp. Another journalist present at Abu Akleh’s killing, Mujahed al-Saadi — a Drop Site News contributor — remains in Israeli detention. In the early hours of September 19, 2024, Israeli special forces broke down his door, beat him with rifle butts and fists, and beat his wife, before dragging him barefoot from his home in front of his three young children. He has had his administrative detention repeatedly extended and has been held at Al-Naqab prison in the Negev desert, notorious for systematic torture, medical neglect, and starvation policies. 🎥 Video by Quds News, translated by Drop Site.

#Syria: Abu Tayeb founded his battalion with his own relatives - his sons and grandsons. He financed the group himself, which was later affiliated with the Tawhid Brigade, purchasing weapons and ammunition with his modest wealth. He took part in the capture of his hometown, Al-Bab, in July–August 2012. He then moved to #Aleppo, the main battleground of that year. With his 40-man battalion - made up of relatives - he fought Regime troops in several areas, including the Old City and Brigade 80. After the fronts solidified, he shifted to the Western part: the districts of Saif Al-Dawla and Salah Al-Din, where he fought brutal urban battles. Despite his age, he led his men in combat and took part in the capture of a string of buildings in Saif Al-Dawla, where he personally negotiated the surrender of several soldiers. Some days were extremely difficult, with scarce supplies, and they had to count every bullet used. Several of his men were wounded and he lost at least one grandson on 11th November, 2012. He insisted on remaining on the front and when his children asked him to stay back, he scolded them. In case he died, he had already told them: "preserve your unity, your cohesion, and your national and Revolutionary principles". On March 25, 2013, while covering his men during an attack, he was killed by a Regime sniper in Saif Al-Dawla district. During an interview in September 2012, his words resonate with striking foresight. When asked if he had a message for Assad, he said: "he calls himself a lion, but he's just a mole, and even smaller". He also explains that Assad would never be able to extinguish the Revolution's volcano - even with the support of all countries.

There is fury in France over the murder of an 11-year-old girl after it emerged the principal suspect had been identified several times in the past as a potential child molester. Lyhanna disappeared after school a week ago in the Gers area of south-west France. Her body was found on farmland near the town of Fleurance on Thursday. A 41-year-old man named as Jérome Barella has been in custody since Monday. He is the father of a friend of Lyhanna, and two witnesses said they saw the girl in his car on the afternoon of her disappearance. He had been named in four separate cases involving young girls in recent years. Two were closed for lack of evidence, and in a third he was dismissed from his job as a maintenance worker at a secondary school for "inappropriate behaviour" towards a teenager. More recently Jérome B was the object of a complaint last August from the mother of 10-year-old Rosa, who said she had been raped by him on several occasions. Even though medical examination substantiated Rosa's claims, not once in the nine months since her family went to police had Jérome B been questioned by investigators. Had the Police done their job he probably would have been in custody and Lyhanna would still be alive. Barella detained and placed under formal investigation. With further complaints now filed, he is linked to at least nine separate cases involving sexual violence against underage girls. Protests have been taking place across France, Hundreds and thousands of people gatherings in front of courthouses in more than 150 towns and cities to send a deliberate message. This tragedy is seen as a failure of a system that could have protected Lyhanna and many other victims but did not. R.I.P Lyhanna 🙏🤍
