And that is: ultimately, VanEck has been around before Bitcoin. We will walk away from Bitcoin if we think the thesis is fundamentally broken. We don’t right now, but you always have to look at the underlying technology and the crypto. It's crazy that there are people on this app who still insist that Bitcoin isn't money, that it's no good as a medium of exchange, that no one is spending it, that it has no use case, etc., etc., etc. And yet... Half a world away from home, across the ocean, there's this farmer's market in Uvita, Costa Rica, home to Bitcoin Jungle⚡️. I've never been here, I don't speak the language, I don't know any of these people, they don't know me. They have no reason to trust me any more than any other stranger. I'm just passing through. And yet, I could buy just about anything and everything I needed with (you guessed it) ... Bitcoin. And no one was surprised when I asked to pay with Bitcoin. Almost as if, you know, it's just another way of paying for stuff, almost as if, you know, it's just money. There's three takeaways here: 1. More and more people will continue to adopt Bitcoin. Precisely because it is so useful as a global, neutral, internet-native money. 2. Guiding, helping and educating them, the way Bitcoin Jungle⚡️ is doing, speeds up the process and ultimately benefits us all in building a better world. 3. Most of those who are familiar with Bitcoin, yet refuse to acknowledge that it is a useful form of money, will likely continue to ignore any and all evidence to the contrary. If they haven't seen it by now, there's no point trying to convince them. They probably don't need it. Best we focus our energy on those who do need it, and leave the stubborn deniers to themselves.
