SNAP benefits should NEVER just be turned back on. Everyone on them should have to re-apply for the benefit and prove that there is a legitimate need for them. I’m all for helping disabled, elderly, & veterans but no one else as a permanent benefit. Others should be allowed 3-6 months after getting a job, & no more. My husband & I NEVER had assistance, we worked. We did without “luxuries” (eating out, new cars, entertainment) people have lost the ability to determine a “want” from a “need”. Want more? WORK MORE!

The SNAP program has turned into a giant scam.

All while elderly in their 80's on a fixed income of only social security getting $27 in food stamps. Infuriating. There has to be a complete overhaul of the welfare system.

So the kids get free breakfast, free lunch, after school programs with a snack and in reality the parents need to provide dinner and weekend meals. How do they need so much food assistance if they are already getting food assistance through the schools?

My wife works in the welfare system in MA. Food stamps used to be physical pieces of paper that could be sold locally but since the migration to EBT, the ‘benefit’ is now on a debit card which makes this fraud so much easier. She speaks with multiple clients every day that claim their ‘benefit’ was stolen. Charges show up in different states so the state acts like that absolves the client of any wrongdoing. Any dimwit can buy a card programmer and when a client sells their card number and PIN, that money can show up anywhere. Suspiciously, most of the ‘theft’ happens the day the benefit is issued. Only the state and the client know the date the ‘benefit’ is issued and only the client knows the PIN. So who is on the hook to replace the stolen ‘benefit’? The taxpayers. This scam is rampant.
