More German Thomas Audiobook stuff! This is something very unique from their Dirty Objects adaption. They adapted the toby stories before they introduced Percy, so they replaced his role with Edward and Henrietta!

So, what is this audiobook series? Is this based on the Railway Series, or is it based on the TV series? Either way, how come they can take creative liberties and make changes like having Edward and not Percy?

Jerome1 year ago

It's based on the TV series and was produced by the company that held the licensing rights to Thomas in Germany at the time Despite exclusively adapting pre-existing stories, they very much did their own thing

Why does this actually work better?Considering Edward would have more experience with James up to this point, seems like a subtle change to have him in this episode!

How can they brainwashed people like this. This is so sad. They make people suffer so much with their schemes. The Government should do something about this

Stop the boats media harassing an old couple, before anyone asks this was from their own post and they didn't post whatever happened before. I bet they think they are so hard abusing an old couple I expect because they don't agree with them

Western University engineering graduate. 500+ applications. 2 years looking for work. Couldn't find a software engineering job and was forced to pivot into a lower-paying role instead. Young Canadians aren't imagining what's happening. They see offshoring. They see labour competition. They see fewer opportunities. How many more stories like this before we admit something is broken?

They are very fast, they have left and the police is here. They collected phones, power banks and laptops from my neighbors, everybody is outside. They couldn’t break in to my door because it is very strong but they almost did 😰 I’ll never wish this experience on anybody even my worst enemy. This is so unreal, they carried guns and machete.

Michel Gondry talks about this magnificent scene from "Kes" (1969, Loach): "With Ken Loach, it's always very social. So, its the middle of England. In the '70s, probably still now, but it was very ravaged by unemployment and poverty. And you see kids when they are 15, they've already registered for unemployment money. So this kid, he finds his passion with his bird, the kestrel. And there is this moment that's magical, and it's a great lesson too. So, at school, he's very invisible. He's completely invisible. And one day, each pupil has to talk about something. And he starts to talk about his bird and suddenly, he shines. He changes because he speaks about something that he loves. This thing is amazing to me. That it's a great illustration about how so many people feel they are lazy, or they are not interested in things. If they find what they love, they would be a different person." (Four Favourites with Michel Gondry, Letterboxd, 2025)
