More people need to know this about Mike Bossy

One of the great “what ifs” ever. Retired at 30 with over 650 goals. Ovi would be chasing a number he’d never hit if Bossy’s back wasn’t crippled.

I believe he was leading the league in points after the 1st month of his final season then he got hit by Shawn Burr and it fucked up his back. Played the rest of the year hurt and that’s why he only scored 38. Then decided to retire as he didn’t want to continue less than 100%

Yessir. We get into that on the pod. However his quote is so awesome it just adds to his legend 🙌🙌

With health, he’s scoring 920 goals. Maybe more.

Bossy scored 573 goals. He was on the ice for 590 goals against. He once went 7 games without a goal. Hat trick in the 8th game. Worst slump of his career he had 3 goals in 8 games. He scored as many or more goals than he was on the ice for in 6 of his 10 seasons.

No dis to ovi but bossy was the best ever- highest goals per game ave ever in an era when interference was allowed-imagine him now with these sticks and no holding-his back issues wouldn’t allow him to be who he really was and he didn’t want to be a shell of what he really was .
