Morgan Freeman is making a documentary about the 761st Tank Battalion! Also known as the ‘Black Panthers,’ these men were the 1st all-Black tank battalion of WWII! Their story is largely untold but their bravery represents the millions of Black service men who fought in the war!

My uncle Nathaniel Walker fought in WWII. The stories he would tel me about the hatred he received from white people in Savannah Georgia was angering.

The 761st was formed in early 1942 in Louisiana. The battalion was eventually moved to Camp Hood, Texas, where they would train for over two years. The men trained in M4 Sherman medium tanks and the M5 Stuart light tank. #TheOriginalBlackPanthers✊🏿

@IWashington Baseball legend Jackie Robinson was a 2d Lieutenant in the Black Panthers Tank unit, although his time wà cut short. Before actor Chadwick Boseman played Marvel character King T'challa in the film Black Panther, he played Jackie Robinsonin the movie "42".
