In plantar approach you can take advantage of the Mulder's maneouver. Another point for plantar

I use both but lately I prefer plantar. And I can use in mostly of the patients the hockey stick, if needed I just lower the frequency (18 to 12MHz). Imho the nerve is easier to be followed. When findings are not conclusive due to hypercheratosis/thick skin, I go dorsal.

Someone wise (or it might have been @adewagstaff 😉) told me to add gel early to the sole to let it soak in, then reapply and you get a much clearer plantar view of all things plantar. Seems to work well
