This paver sand is completely permeable. It is called nitrosand, and we use it with pavers with big joints so the water can pass through.

I always used polymeric sand for a water tight seal with all my stone work. It kept the ants from moving in and the stone didn't sink over time. I never tried using nitrosand, because it was a technique that worked so well. It would be great when you can't get rid of the water.🤔
