Most e-commerce sites feel like databases, not experiences. Grids. Filters. Scroll fatigue. I built a small POC to see what happens when browsing feels tactile and opinionated. Depth and motion instead of endless scrolling. #threejs #r3f

they feel like databases because that converts the most. there is a reason behind amazon looking like shit. we, humans buying, actually like it.

This is literally more fatiguing than Amazon.

Not optimized on mobile, but you can play around with it here:

For a website... not sure... however this kind of interface would not be bad experience at fastfood ordering big touch screens.

But that's the advantage with e-commerce! A flashy, attractive view doesn't deliver an 'experience' anyway. You still can't touch or try the shoes. All it does is replicate the bad parts of a store visit - peering over a wall of shoes, liking one, then finding out it's either unavailable in your size or is outside your price range. Categories, filters, and sort are very valuable.

I'd love to get this code for a military related coding effort if you're willing to share it. Great work @McGreenBeats

As pretty as this looks, it will fail. There are reasons why E-commerce sites are the way they are, because the aim is to "CONVERT", not to "ENTERTAIN". If you do this, you may notice longer sessions but zero buys. Another reason why this is bad is that too many options would cause users to lose interest; a product with only 2-3 options would sell better than one with 10+ options.

do you have to go to a different website to buy the right side of the shoe? This is actually brilliant because people will buy the left shoe first because it is half price and realize later that they should visit the other site to buy a matching pair.

@McGreenBeats you inspired me to make this: Used Canvas API for the animated background with waves and the sky. Replicate API to generate images using Flux Pro model and Sharp to remove the background around each whale.

Love this take. Browsing should feel intentional, not like scrolling a spreadsheet. Depth and motion make the experience stick. If you’re looking for ready-to-use UI building blocks, you can also check @pagifye , dev-ready UI components you can ship with. Visit:

awesome execution Matt. Just a few observations here if i may: - it feels like way too many option at a time - i would need more filters (color, type, style...) - i would love to see the shoe in action on images hovering over it because those real shots sells it...like ikea room renders which shows the furniture in place. - missing price :) But hey, it looks promising.

It feels like a real store. Maybe you should add AR features to let users see the shoes on their feet too! I think it would be an amazing experience.

@victoria_framer This is a great interaction for an e-commerce site, and still, it doesn't feel overwhelming!
