Kind of obvious when you think about it, but it was cool to realize that I don't need to record position history to draw artillery trails, as the same closed-form trajectory equation can be used to "rewind time" for each shot to generate its trail positions.

We are looking forward to welcoming a field of 150 leading Irish amateur golfers to Lahinch Golf Club for the 122nd South of Ireland Amateur Open Championship this week 🏆 The strokeplay qualifying will commence on Wednesday and the Top 64 players will progress through to matchplay following the second round on Thursday. The Champion will be crowned on Sunday in what is sure to be a great week. A huge thank you to Pierse Motors Volkswagen for their continued support of Ireland’s oldest Championship.

Ben Hogan’s left arm got closer to his chest as he turned through the shot. Instinctually, a lot of golfers “chicken wing” because they think they can hit the ball harder. But that’s not how serious compression is created. Pull in as you turn the corner, and keep that upper left arm tied to the chest. That’s where the speed, control, and compression come together. As we come back to Pebble Beach, let us never forget the most insane golf shot ever. Sound up for the commentary. Not the best shot, but the stupidest. Still cannot believe Jordan Spieth did this and was allowed to do this. Even with good balance, the ground could fall out from under him. Greller should have thrown the ball into the sea I’ve walked up to this cliff. Zero chance I even walk to this point and I’m not scared of heights. I’m just not dumb. Only Jordan Spieth.

You’re probably not as good at judging wind as you think. Video below is two identical golf shots. Same club. Same swing. The only difference? Wind. First shot▶️no wind. Second shot▶️14mph crosswind. The result? A completely different outcome. Most golfers only think about wind changing how much shorter/longer the ball will go. But you also need to factor in how far offline the wind will push the ball. Learning how the wind impacts your ball flight is a cheat code. I love using my SkyTrak to simulate wind conditions to understand how the ball reacts. This is a SkyTrak feature that many overlook, but they shouldn't, as it's so valuable.

We don’t talk enough about how Tatis looked like one of the most dangerous hitters in the 2024 playoffs then all of a sudden in the 2025 season he goes to a noticeably shortened setup. Likely with the influence of his dad telling him to be a more complete hitter. At the time I thought it was a good idea but looking back at it I didn’t realize how negatively it would impact him.
