Indian Railways is silently constructing the world’s highest railway line, much higher than China’s Qinghai–Tibet Railway "The Bhanupli–Bilaspur–Leh railway line" Stretching over 490 km through the Himalayas, the line will feature ~70 tunnels, covering more than 50% of the route length (approximately 260 km). The longest tunnel will be 27 km long. The project will also include 100+ major bridges, with the highest elevation reaching 5,359 meters near Taglang La Pass, the highest point any railway line in the world has ever reached. The project is also estimated to be one of the most expensive in Indian Railways history, currently costing around ₹1.3 lakh crore. For comparison, the 500 km MAHSR was initially estimated around ₹1.1 lakh crore. Currently, Phase 1 (Bhanupli → Bilaspur → Beri), spanning ~63 km, is under construction and expected to be completed soon, Hopefully, in the coming years, we will have a direct railway line connecting Leh.

China is making another world-class wonder! It’s building a new high-speed railway into Xizang!!! The Sichuan-Xizang Railway is the most challenging railway project in human history. You can’t imagine how difficult to build a railway in such a harsh natural condition: The starting point of the line is only 300m above sea level, while terminal Lhasa is over 3,000m above sea level. The Nyingchi segment alone requires 47 tunnels and 121 bridges. One of the most challenging segments was the Milin tunnel with 10km length. The railway is tunneled through areas with high-temperature earth-crust. Factors like large temperature differences between day and night and severe weather are all challenges that China has to solve. And we made it!

On February 27, the first freight train departed from Ferencvaros Station in Budapest, Hungary, marking the official launch of freight services on the Hungary-Serbia Railway (Hungarian section), a project involving CREC. The Hungary-Serbia Railway connects Budapest, the capital of Hungary, and Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Upon full completion and operation, the travel time between Budapest and Belgrade will be reduced from the current 8 hours to approximately 3.5 hours, significantly enhancing connectivity in Central and Eastern Europe.
