While the Line Fire was moderated by rainfall several days ago, the return of above average temperatures and lower humidities have allowed for renewed activity, specifically along the eastern flank of the fire. VCFD along with LA County Fire and CAL FIRE are on scene of a brush fire south of the 126 FWY, east of Piru. The fire is currently reported at 50 acres with a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels and located in steep terrain with difficult access. Firefighters are aggressively working from the air and ground to attack the fire. Multiple fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are assigned to the incident along with over 100 firefighters assigned to the incident. Evacuation warnings have been issued for areas east of Lake Piru to the Los Angeles County line. Residents are encouraged to follow for the latest updates on evacuations.

#autofire; The Auto Fire is now at 50% containment and 61 acres. Overnight, firefighter addresses small, isolated flare ups and stubborn pockets of heat across the fire perimeter. The fire remains static in its original footprint with no anticipated growth. Today, firefighters continue patrolling and reinforcing containment lines as well as addressing deep seated smoldering brush piles well inside the perimeter. Resources from VCFD and Ventura City Fire include Type 3 and Type 6 engines, a hand crew, water tender and one of our UAS / Drone pilots. Firefighters will remain on scene until this fire is fully contained. An IR flight of the fire by one of our UAS / Drone pilots shows the pockets of heat firefighters are working to address. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

#UPDATE: CSFD Fire Investigators responded on Monday to the Marksheffel Rd. Fire and have determined that the cause of this fire was accidental likely due to dragging chains from a vehicle. As of Monday, March 11th at 1:30 pm the fire is at 640 acres with 90% containment. One CSFD brush truck will remain at the fire scene to patrol for hotspots. Fire crews are confident that the containment line will hold. The CSFD would like to extend its gratitude to the regional agencies who quickly responded to assist with fighting this fire and thank them for their continued partnership. 🎥: CSFD Special Operations Unit Drone

STATE HWY 18–This evening at approximately 5:45 p.m., #SBCoFD crews responded to a TRAFFIC COLLISION involving two cars when a large boulder cleaved from the mountainside and rolled onto the road near mile marker 44 west of Big Bear Lake. County Firefighters and paramedics reported treating a total of five patients, including two pediatric. Fortunately, all injuries were minor. Four patients were transported to an area hospital. Cal Trans later helped reopen lanes by pushing the boulder out of the way. Big Bear Lake Fire provided two paramedic ambulances and Arrowbear Lake Fire responded with one engine crew.

San Bernardino County Fire and CAL FIRE Partner on Front Country Fuel Reduction Project SAN BERNARDINO, CA — The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, assisted by CAL FIRE, began Phase 1 of the North San Bernardino Front Country Fuel Reduction Project. This proactive wildfire mitigation effort is designed to reduce fire risk and improve protection for communities along the northern edge of the City of San Bernardino. The project will establish a 50-foot-wide fuel break extending approximately one mile from Highway 18 west to Devils Canyon. Crews will be removing vegetation and reducing available fuels that could contribute to wildfire growth and spread. Historically, several significant wildfires have originated in this area and threatened homes and neighborhoods throughout North San Bernardino. The construction of this fuel break will help slow the spread of future wildfires, improve firefighter access, and provide an additional layer of protection for residents and property. Work on the project is expected to take approximately one to two weeks to complete. Residents may see firefighting personnel, equipment, and vegetation removal operations occurring throughout the project area during this time. While this project represents an important investment in wildfire preparedness, San Bernardino County Fire reminds residents that the threat of wildfire exists year-round. SAN BERNARDINO- At 7:15 this morning, San Bernardino County Fire responded to a traffic collision with fire at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Del Rosa Avenue. Crews arrived to find three vehicles, all with active fire and occupants trapped. Firefighters worked to extinguish flames, extricate victims, and treat the injured. One adult female was transported for evaluation of minor injuries. Two adults, each drivers of separate vehicles, were declared deceased at the scene. Highland Ave and Del Rosa Avenue remain closed in all directions near the incident to support the investigation by @sanbernardino_pd.

September Incident - Morning Incident Update The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District remains in unified command with CAL FIRE BDU on the September Incident. Overnight, crews remained committed to the incident. At this time, there are still no reported injuries or missing persons. We would like to thank all of our cooperating agencies for the strong collaborative effort demonstrated throughout this operation. Last night, Caltrans District 8 worked diligently to clear Highway 38, providing access to those who had been stranded on Highway 38. At this time, no known motorists remain stranded; however, assessment teams and field crews are continuing to search the area to ensure no other parties are in need of assistance. CAL FIRE, CHP Inland Division, SBCoPublicWorks, and other partners remain engaged in clearing roads and improving access. The SBCounty, San Bernardino County OES (Ready San Bernardino County) and California OES (California Governor's Office of Emergency Services) are also closely involved, and we are grateful for their early support in helping to accelerate the recovery process. With daylight, crews will gain a clearer picture of the full extent of damage to roads, infrastructure, and homes. San Bernardino County Fire’s Damage Assessment Team, along with San Bernardino County Building & Safety, will work throughout the day evaluating impacted structures and will assist in determining the extent of property loss. The National Weather Service (NWS San Diego) has forecast a chance of thunderstorms today in the San Bernardino County mountains and deserts. #SandyFire morning operational update with Chief Trevor Johnson: The Sandy Fire is currently 2,114.5 acres with 30% containment. There are 1,121 firefighters assigned to the incident. Firefighters are expecting improved weather conditions today, including lower temperatures and higher humidity, which should assist suppression efforts. Today’s operational priority is the lower southeast corner of the fire, where crews are working to strengthen and reinforce containment lines.
