I agree with Apathetic here. Alperen gotta fight for his presence on the team. He gotta dictate who he is. He gotta set the tone with his aggressiveness. But one thing: He was very motivated and took the leadership of the team start of this season. Thats where he destroyed Giannis, Gobert, Mobley etc in the clutch. But after Pels game (was 16-8, 6-6 since) some things changed. Whatever happened indoors Sengun got to fight through and play through it. First things first: Don’t respect anyone who doesn’t respect you.

It's not just that Alperen Sengun had a great offensive performance against Nikola Jokic and Serbia. What he did as a jump shooter was the most notable thing to take away from this matchup, and it's something that I've been looking for from him as a next step in the NBA. When the Houston Rockets get deeper into the playoffs, defenses will scheme to stop Sengun from getting downhill against mismatches or establishing himself in the post. If he's against bigs who are most comfortable to drop back and live with Sengun taking jump shots, he's got to make them pay for it. In this game, he made Jokic pay big time, and it set up the rest of his offensive game. It's these shots that can turn Sengun into not just one of the best centers in the NBA, but a dark-horse MVP candidate.

In Ime Udoka first season at times he would take out Alperen Sengun at the end of close games to put in a more defensive lineup. Over that’s two seasons Sengun has improved on the defensive end and now is making big defensive plays just like he did against Orlando late in the fourth quarter. I asked Ime about Alperen improvement on defense. “We are asking him think a lot do a lot of things on the fly. He is taking it all in and really improve.”

Alperen Sengun has 19 assists through 5 quarters so I asked Coach Udoka if Sengun offseason work and being the main offensive hub during EuroBasket has helped him take the next step as a playmaker. “I would say his quicker decisions he was always someone who could pass the ball.” Udoka went on to say he is in a good rhythm and in great shape and has picked up right where he left off from his All Star year.
