Parliament cannot script a judgement of a court. Parliament can only legislate and hold institutions, including Judiciary and Executive, accountable. Judgement writing, adjudication, is the sole prerogative of Judiciary, as much as legislation is that of the Parliament. But frequently we are seeing that the executive governance is by judicial orders. When the government is elected by people, it is accountable to Parliament. The government is accountable to the people at election. There is a principle of accountability in operation. In Parliament, you can ask questions, critical questions, because the governance is by the Executive. But if this executive governance is by Judiciary, how do you ask questions? Whom do you hold accountable in elections? Time has come for our three institutions, Legislature, Judiciary, and Executive, to blossom. And they blossom best when they operate in their own area. Any incursion by one in the domain of the other poses a challenge, which is not good. It can upset the balance. I was the first victim of the Modi government's use of a Lieutenant Governor against my government, preventing me from functioning with the powers vested in an elected Chief Minister. The Constitution states that day-to-day administration is to be run by the elected government and the Council of Ministers. Today's announcement by the NDP to end the Supply and Confidence Agreement is purely a political move that puts Mr. Singh's ambitions above the interests of Canadians. Unlike the NDP and Conservatives, who are only fighting for themselves, our Liberal government will stay focused on fighting for Canadians and delivering key programs like childcare and dental care that are making a real and tangible difference in their lives. Today the Federal Government in conjunction with the Coalition and with no resistance from One Nation passed a bill against Hate Speech. They gagged debate again and rammed the laws through with no scrutiny where we could ask questions. This is a direct attack on Free Speech. For the third parliamentary week in a row the major parties have devoted Parliament to controlling you, not serving you, by shutting you down. The Misinformation Law, the Online Safety Bill and now Hate Speech are all designed to censor people and push back on government overreach. The hate speech law is dangerous because it threatens freedom of speech by allowing the government to censor or punish individuals for expressing opinions that might be deemed offensive. Such laws are often vague and subjective, leading to potential abuse and selective enforcement. This creates a chilling effect where people fear speaking openly, stifling debate and free expression. Instead of combating hate, these laws can be weaponized to silence dissent and suppress unpopular viewpoints, ultimately undermining democratic values and individual liberties. People First stood in defence of open discourse, free speech, and the democratic principles that underpin our society. Upholding these values will foster trust and preserve the liberties that Australians hold dear. I am disappointed that One Nation did not stand with me on this issue. These laws extend to all people including children. When a motion was moved to exclude children under 14 from these laws, Malcolm Roberts voted against it. Children should not be penalised for the actions or thoughts of their parents. I challenge Malcolm and Pauline to debate me on the reasons why they support this law. It is government overreach plain and simple. There are already state laws against violence and inciting violence. Under the constitution, the States are responsible for policing crime not the Federal Government. There is no need for these laws. They will only be used to censor you. #auspol

In Abuja, I joined fellow professionals at the 33rd COREN Assembly to push for stronger Engineering Regulation Monitoring. ERM is key to safer projects, better outcomes, and upholding the integrity of our profession. My presentation focused on how effective engineering regulation depends not only on COREN’s authority, but on collaboration across government, regulatory agencies, and professionals. I argued that Engineering Regulation Monitoring (ERM) must be strengthened through formal partnerships, political will at the state level, and active engagement by engineers in public office. Compliance is not just a technical issue, it’s a governance priority. And if we are to prevent avoidable disasters and safeguard the public, engineering compliance must be institutionalised and fully integrated into development planning. We should not degrade ourselves to secondary roles – not when we have a chance to be a great power together. We should not accept that Europe is just a salad of small and middle powers, seasoned with enemies of Europe. When united we are truly invincible. Europe can and must be a global force. Not one that reacts late, but one that defines the future. That would help everyone – from the Middle East to every other region in the world. That would help Europe itself because the challenges we face now are challenges to the European way of life where people matter, where nations matter. Europe can help build a better world. Europe must build a better world. A world without war. But for that, Europe needs strength. For that, we must act together – and act in time. And most of all – we must have the courage to act.
