MW2 Remastered Before Activision shut it down, the community did what the company never could - they remastered Modern Warfare 2.

You can literally still play it.

It’s active and it’s called HMW.

It’s no where close to active… I used to host servers on there before I closed them due to the daily playerbase of the entire client being about 5 daily players.

The OG devs of the project when it was first called H2M (MW2 Built on MWR Engine) got hit with a C&D, a new group calling it HMW took it over. That new group had a very rough transition filled with alot of bugs, rumors, and change of leaders. Unfortunately the current team running HMW had alot of struggle maintaining it even to this day. With the lack of features, stability, and public perception compared to other CoD clients it fell. There still is a small chance of it making a comeback if gets big youtubers on board again.

Cod just isn’t like this anymore man, this entire vid, is exactly what I’d go back to cod for if they did this somehow in a modern engine. It’s just so good I gotta go play the 360 version for a bit but still, make cod like this again.

The fact that all of this is in MW2CR's files is absolutely wild to me. The voice lines, icons, maps, attachments, perks. All of it. Just locked away because Activision was afraid that the game would pull players away from Warzone, which they themselves said when it released.

I’d understand them shutting it down if they were going to remaster it but there not doing it so why shut it down?🤣

activision don't own the rights to the multiplayer vince zampella did.

They are too scared to release it. It would out perform the latest release. The funny thing is that they didn't need a remaster for bo7 to flop

It was shut down cause Activision was scared it would reduce their profits from the slop they release. H2M now known as HMW since a new group took it over was all MW2 weapons, perks, streaks, maps, etc… added onto the MWR engine, while removing the MWR stuff, keeping only MW2 stuff playable.

@NinjyTheDumbass Slight correction. It was not only mw2 but also cod4 and mw3 in one(I can’t remember if that’s how launch was. They also have plans to add treyarch content). Every map and gun from those 3 titles. Honestly some of the most fun I’ve had in recent years was playing hmw

I remember playing this when it came out. Majority of servers were filled with bots. Guaranteed that it’d be at least 2-3 million players online or even more if it was console ported. As well as having the actually player count back from OG CODs We know why it’s not in the game.

Imagine if Activision was smart like Rockstar and actually supported the community projects.

They see it as competition. They know their new games kinda suck

I wouldn't play MW2R anyway, the slow movement, poor balancing, Kill streaks instead of Score streaks, all of which would make OBJ modes a nightmare.

Still was playable had so much fun for a month had like 1000 kills with the barrett they crushed it so many sick camos sad that sick ass cod mods can't thrive

I won't say the name, but there's a very good lightly modded version of the OG MW2 still operating for PC. It has security fixes, a server browser, new gamemodes, and new guns. And it needs more players 🙏
