Catching up to others is boring and tedious. We only need to catch up to ourselves.

Sounds deep but it doesn’t mean anything

I have things i want to be better at that does not depend on the existence of others, they are things that keep me happy even if by the metric of others im a failure. If we live via comparison we will surely die of our own prescription.

Where is the catching up part?

Im trying to catch up to the person I envision I want to be. The gap of the me now and the me I envision is what im catching up to. Being caught up has to be defined by you without what others believe to be the goal post.

So long as you don’t get worse, you’re doing just fine for a stagnant person. And yes, we do wither and rot with when we stay too long. We simply need to have a second view or a change of our own to know that our expiry is not soon
