NEW: Carney calls the gun confiscation "voluntary?" "This is not about confiscation. This is about voluntary return of firearms for compensation of these firearms...We're not confiscating guns," said Carney. What does this mean? Are firearms owners who don't hand over their firearms going to be able to keep them but not sell or transfer them? Will the firearms still be able to be used if you don't turn them over to the government? This needs some serious clarification.

I’ve been looking into this Executive Order that will hold big pharma accountable. Sorry, but it’s not what we think it is. This Executive Order will easily be challenged in court since there are laws that prevent direct to consumer sales. RFK Jr was right to call out Bernie Sanders and the rest of the Democratic Party for never actually lowering healthcare costs. However, if Republicans do not pass a law to make this executive order enforceable, they are all talk too. Congress has 8 more weeks of session before summer break. It’s time to hold them accountable.

There are more gun dealers in the U.S. than McDonald's, Starbucks, and Walmarts combined, and only 5% of them are responsible for 90% of the illegal guns used in crimes. The executive order I signed today alongside Brady | United Against Gun Violence will strengthen the City's procurement standards for firearms, so we can better identify and avoid giving any taxpayer dollars to vendors who traffic illegal weapons.

Yesterday, the Minnesota Senate passed the most comprehensive gun violence prevention package in state history. I was proud to work alongside Zaynab Mohamed to get it done. It included an assault weapons sales ban and high capacity magazine limits. I carried provisions to ban binary triggers, ban untraceable 3D-printed firearms, and strengthen and expand awareness of Minnesota’s red flag law. Now it goes to the House. Let's get it done!
