Can't believe it was over 6 years ago when I first play tested this! I remember when people suggested bringing it to Quest and you thought it would be too difficult. You made it! Huge congratulations! Great game, ideal for standalone VR. Must buy 🙌

Your game is beautiful, I loved it watching it when it came out for STEAM VR but I hated that it wasn't on standalone which is how this game is really conceived. Thank you for making it possible and hopefully then reach PICO 4

Lecture 2 on our Quantum Mechanics Series Schrödinger’s equation doesn’t start from mystery. It starts from a very specific bet…the state of a particle is a complex field ψ(x,t), and whatever dynamics we write down must move ψ forward in time in a way that preserves total probability. We ask a basic question…what equation should ψ satisfy so that |ψ|² behaves like a conserved density, the way mass density does in fluid flow? What is ψ? Think of ψ(x,t) as the amplitude assigned to “the particle is at position x at time t”. It’s not a probability. It’s the object you add first, and only at the end do you square p(x,t) = |ψ(x,t)|² Because ψ is complex, it has magnitude and phase. Write it in polar form ψ(x,t) = r(x,t) exp(i θ(x,t)) Then r² = |ψ|² is the density, and θ will end up controlling flow (the probability current). Where does Schrödinger’s equation come from? Start with two empirical inputs about waves and particles: E = ħ ω p = ħ k Here ħ (“h-bar”) is Planck’s constant divided by 2π. It’s the unit conversion factor between the wave description (frequency ω, wavevector k) and the particle description (energy E, momentum p). In units, ħ has units of joule-seconds, so multiplying ω (1/seconds) gives energy (joules), and multiplying k (1/meters) gives momentum (kg·m/s). It’s the number that tells you how much energy or momentum you get per unit frequency or wavenumber. The derivation here is a controlled heuristic: we matched the plane-wave identities to the measured relations E = ħω and p = ħk, then imposed the same energy bookkeeping as classical mechanics. Why this equation is the right kind of rule If ψ is the state, we need a rule that preserves total probability: ∫ |ψ(x,t)|² dx = 1 Schrödinger evolution does. You can see it by deriving a continuity equation. Let ρ(x,t) = |ψ|² = ψ* ψ. I didn’t expect Crimson Desert to grow on me this much, but here we are. 🫢 After putting more hours into Crimson Desert and getting close to the ten hour mark, I’ll be honest: my opinion of the game has shifted in a much more positive direction. Combat feels significantly better now that I’ve unlocked more skills, exploration is a ton of fun, and while the story is basically nonexistent, I personally don’t mind since I’m not the type of player who needs heavy narrative to enjoy a game. I’ve also done a few puzzles, and so far I’m really enjoying them. I genuinely appreciate that the game does not hold your hand. Enough with the yellow paint in every modern game. Developers should just force us to actually think 🤣 I’m constantly unlocking or discovering something new every couple of minutes. The game is absolutely massive. On the technical side, most of the visual issues I had are now gone after turning off DLSS and playing at native resolution, along with lowering lighting from Max to Cinematic. One of these changes, or maybe both, made the game far more stable, and visually it now looks phenomenal. I still find myself stopping just to admire how beautiful it is. My rating has gone from a 7-7.5 to an 8.5-9, and based on what I’ve played so far, that jump feels completely justified. The overall takeaway is that Crimson Desert does not fully click until you unlock more of its systems. The early hours undersell it, but once combat, exploration, puzzles and the world open up, the experience becomes dramatically better. I also love this intro when you start the game or load a save. It gives the whole experience a special feeling and sets the tone perfectly every single time. :)

Would you believe an AI agent can test a real VR action game in real time, the way a person plays it? Meta XR Operator makes it possible. As far as I know, this is the first time. I am not talking about tapping a menu or replaying a recorded click path, but genuinely moving, shooting, and using the same game mechanics a human player does. In NeonReach VR, which is a real (and open source) action game, rings spawn 12m out and come at you somewhere between 1.5 and 5.5 m/s, getting faster over a 90 second ramp. There are three kinds: straight, weaving side to side, and spinning. Every shot is a full slingshot cycle, so you press, pull back, aim, then release. Obstacles arrive at head height and cost you a life if you don't get out of the way. You have ten lives. Here is why the game is hard for an AI agent. Even though Meta XR Operator gives the agent everything it needs to observe the app and act inside it, the agent still cannot play. One agent turn takes 10 to 15 seconds. One throw is four steps that have to happen in order, because the press has to latch before the pull, and they cannot be batched into a single call. So a throw costs about 45 seconds. A fast ring only exists for 2.3 seconds. One action takes 20x longer than the target is alive. Prompt tuning does not close a gap that size. What works is a three stage path: EXPLORATION, then SKILL, then SCRIPT. 1/ EXPLORATION. The agent drives the live app and works the game out on its own. It verified the coordinate mapping by setting a pose and reading it back, then derived the launch model. The more useful output was the traps it found. For example, the player's own body collider silently deflects a ball released inside it, with no error and no log line. That produced two confident wrong conclusions before anyone caught them. 2/ SKILL. All of that gets written down as a reusable SKILL.md plus an aim solver. There is a section that separates what was actually verified from what was assumed, so a wrong conclusion cannot quietly turn into doctrine. This stage also produced the trick that mattered. Set timeScale to 0 and a throw becomes atomic in game time, so however long the agent spends thinking never shows up in the shot. 3/ SCRIPT. The agent then compiles everything into a player script, a loop that observes, decides, and throws, calling the MCP servers directly from Python with no model in the hot path. Round trips drop from 10 to 15 seconds down to something between 1 and 16 milliseconds. The loop runs at 23 Hz, about 0.75 seconds per throw, roughly 60x faster than the agent doing it turn by turn. The result is that it plays like a person, which you can see from the attached video. It tracks the rings, works out where each one is going, throws with whichever hand is free, moves out of the way of the obstacles, and does not wait around to see whether the last throw landed. Shipping settings, no difficulty edits, no health locks, no slow motion. It plays until it actually loses. The takeaway generalizes beyond games: an agent does not have to be the player. Even following the same rules as a player, it has too much latency between moves. Having the agent write the thing that acts bypasses that constraint entirely. Crimson Desert previews are here and overall, content creators are impressed with the game: - Open world is gorgeous, the game ran remarkably well on this PC build with no FPS drops (7900XTX GPU), the draw distance is insane - Crimson Desert does not hold your hand, there are genuinely difficult puzzles and no yellow paint to guide you, with a ton of mechanics in combat and exploration that all come together and are up to the player to use - Every single questline's cutscenes are motion captured and animated, it does not use generic animations (at least for main quests) - MMO roots from Black Desert are obvious, the skill tree is deeply involved and each build feels entirely unique - Combat is reportedly "really good" with a ton of complex mechanics and great animations - NPCs don't have schedules like a Kingdom Come 2 or Skyrim, they are mostly static but they will react to your actions and there is a full crimes system that you can mess with - You can set arrows on fires by aiming towards any source of fire then shooting, this is used in environmental puzzles. Another way to set things on fire is by pressing down both bumpers which causes Kliff to hold up his sword to reflect the sun's light onto things to set them on fire - Quest givers will contact you by sending a bird with a letter, this will happen naturally in the open world - Exploration is fantastic, each location is entirely unique and you can utilize all the different abilities in unique ways, for example you can launch yourself across a wall OR use a dragon to fly in OR climb it - Boss fights are very advanced, each one is unique with their design and movesets - Side Quests and Random Events are fun, some are as small as rescuing a cat from a rooftop, others are more major storylines - Some quest bugs were seen, but no optimization issues, when they were switched to an Endgame save, many reported a higher number of bugs and glitches but nothing game-breaking. - There are combat finishers and they are unique for each weapon type - Combos are available and they are unique for every single weapon type, there are many button combinations to apply these in combat - Some content creators complained that the puzzles were too confusing as they utilize a very specific ability at times and its hard to keep track of all the abilities that you have - You can buy food or cook it, or hunt and sell that meat - Content creators all loved it, they played 6+ hours and had fun, saying that they just want to play more afterwards - Controls however are described as complex and may be clunky as there are a many button combinations for unique actions It seems like Crimson Desert is shaping up to be a genuinely great game, we are yet to see console footage but if the amazing optimization for PC is anything to go by, we likely have little to worry about. Crimson Desert is dropping on March 19th, I cannot wait!
